The Castle that Never Ends These Parisian facades along the Seine are about as classically European as it gets. When these buildings are lit up at night, they are really beautiful in their orange hues. I took this after leaving Notre Dame and walking across a bridge heading north. I took so many photos of scenic spots… I could hardly figure out what to process first! There is a pool down there that is always available for use, and it is surrounded by a ultra-chic bar. StuckInCustoms > Circumnavigating the Lake This is yet another glacier-filled lake in the mountains between Chile & Argentina. I got up pretty high on a short hike to get this shot. I had seen this bright tuft of red leaves and wanted to work it into the final product. We were on the edge of autumn and a few leaves were starting to change colors. Most of the leaves were not in any interesting compositional angles or were impossible to get near! When it was rebuilt just recently, they reused some of the old burned black bricks in the construction. StuckInCustoms > The Steam Pipeline Did you know that energy is so inexpensive in Iceland that it is cheaper to ship aluminum from Australia to Iceland for its final treatment? I don’t know much about refining aluminum, but I do know that final process (bauxite scrubbing?) is quite energy-intensive. And it must be worth it to ship something all the way from the other side of the world. I can’t imagine there are many ports further apart than Australia to Iceland! I used to play this game on my Amiga called Ports of Call. I may have to boot it up to check!Anyway, this geothermal plant was very interesting and perfect for photography. Asmundur and I spent a bit of time there moving around for cool perspectives. StuckInCustoms > An Open Air Lounge in Kuala Lumpur Isn’t this place awesome? It’s a bar on top of a roof of the Trader’s Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. It looks out across the new skyline at the Petronas Towers. Malaysia is a pretty hot and humid country, so sometimes it’s not quite so comfy to sit outside. I don’t like to sit outside in muggy conditions… I just don’t. I remember that I played indoor soccer there in Kuala Lumpur on another night and it was one of my top 10 sweaty nights. Afterward, the only way to cool off was to drink about 128 oz of iced carrot-milk. StuckInCustoms > Miracle in Iceland I knew if I took enough HDR pictures of churches that I would eventually get a miracle. You know, the odds are technically and scientifically in my favor. The sound the miracle made was about the same sound as when they hit that emergency switch in the hatch on Lost.This one was a five-exposure HDR.
