This area is kind of wild but worth the drive. I had to take this direction one time because part of Highway 1 on the PCH was shut down just south of Carmel. The only way I could get around the other way was to take the longer way down through this military base, most of which is just open fields and trees. The wide open fields make for perfect tree shots, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. I'm not sure why the fields are so empty — it's possible they cleared a lot of the trees for practicing military manoeuvres and whatnot.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The roads in Iceland normally follow the bottom part of the valley. Here, in this particular area, the road was about halfway up one of the mountains, which gave me a bit of a downward perspective. Every few miles there is an interesting, old, weather-beaten barn like this one to set the scene. It may not even be so old, and maybe the weather there is so rough that it makes things look old before their time. Iceland
The sky was extra moody the evening we finally made it back to the little bed & breakfast. I took time to set up my camera along with the 24mm Leica f/1.4 to get this shot of where we stayed that night. It's looks quite quaint and bed & breakfasty doesn't it?!?! - Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
