This place was a bit tricky to reach! I love going to Ginza at night (one of those many neighborhoods in Tokyo). It's bright, colorful, and extremely clean. Well, all of Tokyo is clean, but especially this part. As I went down one of the little streets, I saw this high bridge up seven or eight stories. I climbed up through one of the nearby stores and tried to work my way back around to the right spot and eventually found it. When I got up there, I noticed the bridge had that diagonal patchwork of metal wires embedded in the glass. But I opened up this lens all the way to f/1.4 and was able to see right through it! Birds on the Spherical Boulders After the sun had gotten higher up in the air, I left “sunrise shooting mode” and entered “find interesting shapes mode.” I had on my 14-24 lens, which means I had to get super-close to these birds. Birds are hard to take photos of, I think. So I had to be very slow, like a cat, on my approach to these boulders. I barely got off a shot before the freaked out and flew away!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
I had an amazing time watching everything in these leather tanneries. This is the first time I've ever seen anything like this, and it was mesmerizing. The men would work these areas and move leather from one area to the next to be dried, cured, died, and every other stage in between. The smell was rather noxious (quite a bit of fermenting urine), but it was great for photography! I took a ton of photos… this is one of them for you!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
