StuckInCustoms > Traditional Japanese Woman in Tokyo A few weeks ago I said I was working on some tips and tricks for taking photos of people. I haven't forgotten about that promise! I've just been super-busy. And now I will be in Iceland for about two weeks... but it is still on my to-do list!- Trey Ratcliff Read more at the Stuck in Customs blog.
StuckInCustoms > The Red Room, Revisited Frequent visitors will recognize this amazing place in Chicago. It is the Crimson Lounge, and this is where we had the big book party in Chicago. - Trey Ratcliff Read more of this entry at the Stuck in Customs Blog.
StuckInCustoms > The Lake at Nikko This place was Cold with a capital C, as you can plainly see. And worse, I had forgotten my special little gloves with the flip-up fingertips. So I was goin' finger-commando while trying to line up this shot. The wind was pretty stiff in my face. The wind always seems to be against you, eh? I think I just never notice it when it comes from any other angle.By the way, there is only one place that is convenient to quickly warm up your fingers ... - Trey Ratcliff Read the rest at the Stuck in Customs blog!
StuckInCustoms > Trey in Hot Water In some spots, this water is like a lukewarm bath. In other places, it's like falling in fresh magma. I wish I could get some place that's right in between.... you know... about the temperature of a molten lava cake. - Trey Ratcliff Read about it and see the list of the strangest things I've done so far at the Stuck in Customs blog!
StuckInCustoms > The Alien Pool If you have ever seen this area of Southern Iceland, then you can attest to these amazing colors! These are totally accurate…. and I would find it hard to believe had I not seen it first hand. It was my first time to this area in the summer. Do you see those strange rocks? Well, some of what you are seeing is rocks and the rest is a very unusual moss. It’s a tan-green color. It’s extremely fuzzy/spongy and makes the whole place just seem unworldly. That, combined with the extra-blue water, made for a scene that was just shockingly awesome.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
StuckInCustoms > Remote Farmhouse with Waterfall On one of my first nights in Iceland, I was driving along the southern coast. Pristine farms are plopped along the side of the road every few miles. As I began to approach one of the volcanic areas, the terrain changed enough so there were huge waterfalls in many of the vistas. This one was nestled deep behind the farmhouse, and it seemed like a nice little spot for a photo.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
StuckInCustoms > The Lonely Fishing Hut Most of the details behind this photo can be ascertained from the photo below. This place really was in the middle of nowhere... I also have a new and improved site design at stuckincustoms.com! Follow the link below to check it out. There's also a new eBook on the way. Comment on the blog page for a chance to win a copy! I also have a behind-the-scenes video posted in this entry. - Trey Ratcliff Full post at the Stuck in Customs blog.

StuckInCustoms > Landing in the Air & Space Museum I love this place! This was about the only place I was allowed to use my tripod (on the outside), so I spent a bit of time hunting about for best ways to capture the amazing building. - Trey Ratcliff Read the rest of this entry (and some tips for taking handheld shots) here.
StuckInCustoms > Driving to Akaroa Akaroa is a little French town on the coast of the south island of New Zealand. While in Christchurch, this was the #1 spot people told me I had to visit! It's not a long drive at all, and it was a great destination for sure.Along the way, we passed these perfect little hills and water inlets ... - Trey Ratcliff Read the rest, including news on the new eBook, here.
StuckInCustoms > Shopping in the Rain This businessman was strolling down the street, doing some light window shopping. The 50mm 1.4 prime did most of the work here for me, even though it did require manual focus. That bit was hard. Real hard ... - Trey Ratcliff Some exciting news about a new print and the rest of this entry is here.
StuckInCustoms > The Entrance Sorry all - short post today I'm afraid... it's been a long day. Tired and drained, frankly. Hey, they can't all be winners. This is a great staircase and bar I found at the W Hotel in Atlanta. I got a lot of cool shots in there - quite the fab joint! - Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
StuckInCustoms > The Boiling Heavens The weather was wet and heavy. It had that feeling that it will rain any minute, and every minute it did not rain felt like a lucky break. This church sat up high on a hill in NW Iceland and could not be seen from the street. I happened to turn up a little driveway and found it at the top. You can't see it from this angle (it was impossible to compose), but those homes on the left have grass roofs. - Trey Ratcliff Read the rest of this at the Stuck in Customs blog.
StuckInCustoms > Over the Top of Iceland When I am by myself for weeks on end, I think I probably make bad decisions. I lose all sense of perspective and what is "normal". I can't decide if this is a good or bad thing... I guess some of both. Anyway, I was driving along the coast in NE Iceland along the fjords. It was about 11 PM and the sun was setting. I was about to lose it behind the mountains, and then I saw a dirt road that went right up one of the mountains ... - Trey Ratcliff Read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
StuckInCustoms > Into the Sea I wonder what percentage of photographers live on the West Coast versus the East Coast. Of course, the west gets all the great sunsets over the ocean, and the east gets all the great sunrises. Given that most sane people are asleep at sunrise, and given that most photographers are insane -- I am not sure! - Trey Ratcliff Read the rest at the Stuck in Customs blog.
