New York, New York Is it a sad thing to say that one of the most fun things I did in Vegas was walk around by myself and take photos? Yes, I think that sounds kinda sad. But it's true! What a great place for photography. The lights are insane, the textures are off-the-wall, and everywhere you look is a feast for the eyes. It's also a real challenge to try to get everything just right in the photo. StuckInCustoms > The Sheep Aren't these some cool-lookin' sheep? I was driving through the countryside of Iceland and there are these super-bushy sheep that float around the fields with their busy little legs underneath. Then, from a distance, I saw these mega-bushy fellas all piled up on top of one another. They were quite far away, so I attached my 70-200 mm lens to get a tighter shot at f5.6. I had to make a wide variety of strange animal noises to get that guy on top to look at me. Luckily, I was alone with the sheep. StuckInCustoms > The Timeless Tomb The Taj Mahal is an awesome place. I spent the day taking photos of the place, and I was dog-tired when it was all done. Plus, my feet were hella dirty. You have to take off your shoes there. It turned out, actually, to keep me pretty cool. StuckInCustoms > A Canyon Oasis This place is deep inside Glacier National Park. The only bad thing about photography is I can't show how deafening the sound of the waterfall inside the canyons was! It ricocheted around the rocky walls and seemed to be perfectly acoustic echo chamber. I didn't get in, but the water seemed super-cold. It was a nice spot to stop and take a break for a bit. StuckInCustoms > Inside the Train Station I think, as Americans, we are over-the-top interested in European train stations. I really enjoy them. I don't know why... they just seem like really interesting places to be. This is part of the train station in Leipzing -- the part after you get off the train and go into the shopping area. Curiously, if you look at the large or original size, you can see taxi cabs driving through the inside of the mall. StuckInCustoms > The River's Cool Morning Spray on my Lens Another morning waking up at 5:00 AM. I'll admit... even though I sleep very little, getting up before 6 is always a little rough. But it's what you gotta do if you want to see the sun rise in the north during the summer. Of course, the freezing rivers that rip through the canyons of Glacier National Park offer a thousand opportunities for good lighting at daybreak. I think I got a little too close to the river here and some of the morning wind kicked up some spray from the rapids onto the lens. StuckInCustoms > Connecting in Hong Kong Hong Kong airport is a great one, as are many Asian airports. They put US Airports to shame. The security is actually nice to you there, and you don't get all the attitude of the TSA. The TSA looks so important with their little uniforms. StuckInCustoms > The Massive Glacier at Dusk This is the Perito Moreno Glacier that empties into Lago Argentina. It was simply awesome to be there, as you can plainly see.I was there with a bunch of Russians who had brought an insane amount of cognac. Between shots, they would all drink cognac, yell, and try to bring down the next ice wall. StuckInCustoms > Morning Seagull over Vesuvius This was the morning that made me never question getting out of bed before sunrise again. It's always a painful thing to do, but once you get out there, it's usually worth it. Even if you don't get the perfect shot, you still have a nice early start to the day. I shot this in Naples, Italy, where the bay looks across to the cratered Vesuvius. This shot was an HDR taken from a single RAW, as you can tell from the seagull which was caught in flight. Moving subjects usually require the use of a single RAW file for the creation of the HDR. StuckInCustoms > Another Sunset in Austin I think many people in Austin know this place! There is a cliff wall that can be traversed up the side on an easy trail that overlooks the 360 bridge. It's always a beautiful place to come see the sunset over the Colorado. I walked up here a few nights ago when I had the feeling that a good sunset was coming (it's in my bones now).
