In fact, they’re all over the place. This was taken in an area of southern Iceland, on the road not too far from Hvolsvollur and Vik. If you just turn off the main road and meander down a few dirt paths, places like this are everywhere.One of the most unusual places about this, which is missing from the photograph, are the bird sounds. They were extremely unusual, high-pitched, and made small siren-sounds when diving to and fro. StuckInCustoms > A Gentle Kiss in the Hot Tub These snow monkeys are the greatest. I spent so long with them, we almost had a three-way. They are all wild (in the natural sense, mind you), and they come down from the mountains near Nagano, Japan, for several hours a day to play in the natural hot springs. They gallivant around, have fights, play with their kids, have a bit of sweet carnal monkey fun, check their email, and pose for my camera. These two monkeys spent a lot of time together... they were in maximum "relaxation mode". This was taken during an evening demonstration on the night before OpenCamp began. It was an unforgettable night with the Knights! After falling a few miles from the sky, the skydivers would open up their chutes & pyrotechnics and let loose. StuckInCustoms > Rainbow over the London Eye Today's shot is of the newly famous London Eye. It's more than just a ferris wheel. I can understand why it was so controversial when it was being built. What proper city would want a carnival-esque attraction right in the middle of it all? Well, this is no regular ferris wheel. It's at least four times bigger than most, and each capsule is like a tiny plane. StuckInCustoms > The Amazing Airport I went in and out of this airport in Beijing a few times. Some might argue a few too many times. That some might be me. It’s an absolutely beautiful airport. It was so amazing in size and scope that I could not figure out what part to present to you first! But we’ll start with this one, at the entrance to the international terminal. This is near the dropoff area for the international departures. It’s the bit where you roll in your bags and try to figure out where the heck to find the counter for Air Sheep.By the way, I took a ton of photos all over the Beijing airport. No one ever gave me any grief for using my tripod. StuckInCustoms > Red Gate After Rain When I’m someplace interesting, I usually set the alarm to get up quite early. Painful, yes. And then, when I’m in that half-wake state, I stumble to the window to look at the clouds and weather. If it’s a mess, I don’t go, and joyfully crawl back into bed. That’s just about the best feeling in the world.But, sometimes, I force myself to go out anyway… that is what happened on this day. It was one of those frustrating mornings when it was raining — which makes carrying an umbrella + tripod + two cameras + camera bag quite a drain! StuckInCustoms > Exploring the Cathedral No tripods allowed. I think maybe it said this in French. Or English. I can't remember because I ignored it. How are you supposed to get a decent photo inside Notre Dame without a tripod?I spent this weekend processing a bunch of photos from France, and this is one that took quite a while. People often ask me, 'How long do you work on your photos?" My answer is always a bit strange, since any time-allotment will not seem correct. The thing is... I've processed so many photos over the years -- I've gotten very fast at it. I've got macros, keyboard shortcuts, etc etc. I think I might look like a Korean Starcraft player... I slow it down a lot for the tutorial and stuff. But, anyway, having said that, my answer is "anywhere from 15 minutes to two hours". This shot in particular took a little over an hour. It was a hard one... StuckInCustoms > A Beautiful Morning in Beijing Another early morning outing found me at this place, just outside the Forbidden City. The morning was crisp and clear.
It was one of those mornings where you feel like moving around to both stay awake and to stay warm. I walked to the top of the temple with all my stuff. It was a lot of steps... too many steps for that early in the morning! But, I was surrounded by a lot of early-morning Chinese people working out. What was interesting is that most of them seemed to be over 50 years old. And there were A LOT of them!
