The Blue of Lake Pukaki This is the view that you get on the way to Mt. Cook. It was my first time going there… and I was so happy to see the amazing color of the water! StuckInCustoms > The Commune, China This is a really cool place near Beijing!It’s an expensive resort, but really quite unique. They had a series of architects come in and create very modern “houses” that are scattered across the hilly countryside. Then, they “repeated” those designs and created many little “rooms” inside each of the houses where you can stay. StuckInCustoms > The Cemetery in the Monastery Castle I know that purists tend to call this place more of a monastery, but I call it more of a castle! To me, after all, it just looks like an almighty castle (said in Bob-Ross-voice), doesn’t it?For this one, I got down pretty low with the Nikon 14-24 lens. I had the engines pushed to Warp 10 at 14mm! It’s especially harsh if you happen to live your life as mud.I saw these kinds of cracked mudflats in many places, but this was one of my favorites. It was very close to some giant sand dunes. StuckInCustoms > The Milford Sound Spray People are sometimes disappointed when they come to Milford Sound and it is raining, but that is really one of the best times! The waterfalls go absolutely crazy, and there are, in my opinion, more interesting photos to be taken than in the sunshine. Of course, it’s a very different kind of photo, but you really can’t go wrong.There are a few boat cruises that go out into the sound and the ocean as well… those are all highly recommended. StuckInCustoms > Shadow Selfie Out behind the chateau, there was an extremely powerful light. It kept getting in my way, so I decided just to go ahead and use it! I like shadow-photos, but they always make you look a bit bottom-heavy.BTW, if you want to get strange colors in night photography, try setting your white-balance to “cloudy” — this will do some funky stuff to the coloring! StuckInCustoms > Full Speed Engines on the Disney Cruise I woke up early almost every morning on the Disney Cruise to see what I could see. When you can see the horizon, it makes it pretty predictable that you’ll get a good sunrise. I did go through that painful routine of waking up early and staggering over to the window to open the curtains and look at the clouds. Whenever I saw there were just a few clouds, I’d go for it! Otherwise, if there were a ton of clouds or rain, I would just get back in bed. StuckInCustoms > Tunnel Beach This is a really beautiful and unique beach just south of Dunedin. It’s not a drive-up-and-visit-beach. It’s a drive-up-and-walk-a-long-way-then-down-a-long-tunnel-beach. Once we got down there, hardly anyone was at the beach. The views are amazing, and we even saw a few cliff divers. StuckInCustoms > Jane Fondle, the Light Dancer in Melbourne After hour THREE of the mega-photowalk, we came across this gal. She said her name was “Jane Fondle,” which I thought was kind of strange. And I thought it was even more strange when she gave me a brochure and it said that she does live performances in front of children so they stay in shape. StuckInCustoms > Downtown Sydney from the Rocks The Rocks is the oldest part of Sydney, and it’s down by the harbour. I have to make sure I get the “u” in there to appease local sensitivities. Anyway, it’s a cool area full of a lot of old-world charm. Now there are a lot of restaurants, bars, and little hotels that are sprinkled around the area.I took this one from the top of a 3-story salsa bar. I didn’t even really go into the bar, except for the way to find the top of it!
