I usually never go back to a work.. so, this is more the exception than the rule.But I started trying a few different things with Photomatix (that you can see in the Photomatix presets at the site), and I just like the overall feel of the photo better than the previous version. StuckInCustoms > Bowen Falls in Milford Sound This is one of many sights we’ll be seeing together if you come down here to New Zealand. This place is quite the turkey shoot! There’s beautiful bits all around.The best way to get to this particular spot is to get off the walking path and work your way across the rocks. I prefer the view where you are looking across the water… The conditions change quite violently depending on the light and the amount of rain. Sometimes, after a fresh rain, that waterfall is absolutely insane! StuckInCustoms > View from the Google Offices in Downtown Tokyo It was a great event at Google that day and night! After my tech talk, we stayed up in their skyscraper till dark, drinking and eating and taking photos. Luckily, the office windows aim in directly the right direction out of the Roppongi Towers.The windows were all crowded with photographers, and it was a great time. Between shots, I got the chance to talk to a lot of enthusiastic Japanese photographers. I even set up a future-photo-date with the great Takahiro-san… and he would take me to one of his secret bridge locations in Tokyo! StuckInCustoms > The Paris Opera I went by this building several times before I even thought about going in. For some reason, it never occurred to me that I might actually be able to go inside and take photos! Of course, I really wanted to go inside, so I was happy when Curtis told me that it’s no problem to get in there.Next time, I think I’d like to go on a private tour and get some special angles and whatnot. StuckInCustoms > The Lupins at Lake Tekapo I stopped at Lake Tekapo on the way to Christchurch for the great event there. Jason Law had told me all about the lupins here, so I was keen to see for myself! It was good to meet Jason and his crew there for a bit of shooting at sunset!I enjoyed this spot so much that I came back on my drive home from Christchurch. StuckInCustoms > The Walking Path in Glenorchy This is a new walking path that has just been built through the woods and wetlands of Glonorchy. As far as I know, it is pretty rare to have wetlands so close to towering mountains, isn’t it? I suppose I always think of the wetlands in flat areas, like Louisiana and places like this.There are a few different routes to take. Some take just an hour, and others take a few. StuckInCustoms > The Paris Underground One evening, we were in a bit of a hurry to get to the Arc de Triomphe for some sunset photos. I still have those photos btw, sitting here unprocessed, and I’m really looking forward to it! Anyway, there were a few of us on this little subway adventure and we had to make one of those long underground connections that requires you to walk for about 5 minutes through jigsawed tunnels. StuckInCustoms > Evening in Santa Cruz I really rushed here at the last minute for this photo! I arrived just as the sun was setting to get some shots from above, then came down to the beach to take some more of the reflection off the wet sand. It was so perfect down there, and it lasted for a good thirty minutes after sunset, which was quite convenient!After I was done taking these, a gentleman came over that recognized me from the website. StuckInCustoms > Exploring the Medieval Mont Saint Michel I think if you ever go to Mont Saint Michel that you should really try to stay up on the island. Hotel space is extremely limited, but it gives you the chance to walk around the old walled city deep into the night. Since it faces the ocean to the east, that morning sun comes blasting out right behind them. StuckInCustoms > The Horse in Paradise Tom and I just took a drive out to Paradise, NZ (Yes, this is a real place!), just beyond Glenorchy. StuckInCustoms > The Church of the Good Shepherd under the Stars This is one of The Darkest Skies in the World. You may find this snippet interesting: “A delegation from the country has successfully petitioned UNESCO for the protection of ‘sky-scapes’ as well as landscapes under their World Heritage system, in order to see the status granted to the air above Tekapo and Aoraki Mount Cook.”If you ever get to this place, you’ll be so shocked that you can see this with the naked eye! I have never seen them before I moved here, but this is my first time living in a mountainous environment. StuckInCustoms > Through The Mists of Milford Sound The mornings are the best in Milford Sound, I think. I’ve been here about seven times now. Even though I had one amazing sunset, I think that the mornings tend to have better luck for photos. Note this is all anecdotal, and I’ll be more sure after I visit 100 times, which I plan to do, by the way!
