I really love this photo, but there’s only one problem. I can’t figure out how the heck I made it! I remember a few of the steps… but not sure I could re-create the actual technique. Oh well… at least I still have a pretty picture! - Trey Ratcliff Click here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
I decided to have a little fun with this shot! It's one of my favorite photos from France inside the Sainte Chapelle. When I was there, I managed to sneakily get my tripod into position, much to my wife's chagrin. Oh, and the chagrin of security once they finally discovered my rouse (which is very difficult to hide, btw). Anyway, I got my shots before getting in trouble… and then I decided to make the most interesting bit and reflect it downwards upon itself to give it more of a feeling of infinite crystal.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
One of the hardest types of photos I took while in the desert were fully zoomed in at 300mm while on camelback. The motion a camel makes is incongruous with good photo-taking. I would try to time my shutters to the strange apogees of the camel sways. I even thought about riding side-saddle. I think I saw someone do that in Lawrence of Arabia (which I've seen about 10 times), so it seemed like something that could be done. But I quickly analyzed the physics of that in relation to my torso and skeletal-photo-position and thought it would only add to chaos I was trying to abate. - Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
