This was one of the final flights of the U.S. Space Shuttle. NASA had invited me out to take photos, and this photo is actually a complete shot of desperation with my second camera. My first camera had started to buffer (slow down) after taking about a dozen shots as the jets fired up. I was dead in the water. Luckily, I had a spare camera around my neck with a fixed 50mm. I managed to grab one shot just as it passed through a low cloud-cover.
lots of people are disappointed with the launch as it went hiding in the cloud like 19 seconds after lift off. However, your picture clearly shows there are gains and not just loss. The clouds provide a unique opportunity for some great photos and you grab just excellent the right moment ! Vvvvvvvery great picture and indee the best one I have seen for this launch !
