Japanese Girl with Mask The white mask is a popular meme in Japan. It’s pervasive and it affects all ages. I see school children wearing masks, old people in the subway, and everyone in between. I was waiting to see a new trend where the face masks have designs — quirky, cute Japanese designs. If no one has done it, then there’s a great idea for you.I like them, I suppose. Salaryman in Tokyo While I was in the middle of making a time-lapse sequence (see the video below the photo), I was using my D3S on a sling to take quick photos of interesting people. They were everywhere!Behind me, waiting for the light to change, was this young salaryman. Salaryman is the Japanese word for “businessman”. That word salaryman always cracks me up for some reason. Anyway, he was this young kid, standing there in a most unassuming way in this nice suit. I spun around and grabbed a quick shot.He looked a little confused at me after I took it. The Mean Streets of Tokyo Tokyo has amazing action all the time. There is never a good time to sleep or turn off the camera! Every minute I sleep, I feel like I am missing something!This was taken close to midnight on another evening when I was just randomly walking around the downtown streets. It's all a wonderland of lights, colors, people, and sounds. Man Crossing Street I spent a lot of time in this dynamic area of Tokyo. It's sort of the techno-nerd electronic center of the Japanese world. So I felt right at home there with my fellow nerds. But this guy certainly stood out. He was crossing the street and looking extremely Japo-cool. I pulled up my 50mm and waited for the time to feel right before I snapped the photo. Tokyo Tunnel During a fun photowalk in Tokyo, we were doing our best to get a city shot around sunset. We speculated that perhaps the best way to get from Point A to a mysterious Point B was to go through this tunnel. Akihabara Street It took me many days in Tokyo before I finally made it over to one of my favorite areas - Ahikabara. This district is famous for its pure technology insanity! If you are a geek, then this is geek heaven!Every street is filled with huge towers, each one flowing over with all sorts of technology, gadgets, games, robotics, toys, and scantily-clad-women. The streets are filled with girls that dress in... hmmm... how do I explain it? Imagine a grown woman wearing little-girl clothes, with puffy-laced mini-skirts, giant bows, and comely dispositions. They stand around, handing out little flyers, trying to get you to come into a shop, a cafe, or something in between.There is even a cafe there with monitors built into the table. When you order a drink, your waitress goes over to the soda fountain, where a camera lies in the floor pointing upward.
