Moonrise Kingdom This is one of my favorite new pieces from this year! I just shot it a few days ago.It was shot waaaay after the sun went down in Big Sur, California. This is a crazy waterfall that pours off onto the beach. You can’t see it from the road, and it requires a short walk. I found it thanks to Stuck On Earth, although I am sure other locals have known about this semi-secret place forever! You can go here too… it’s not terribly difficult. It’s called “McWay Falls” and it’s beautiful any time of the day. Also, btw, I’d like to thank those of you that have been ordering more prints recently — I am honored! :) You can always click just below the photo to check sizes and prices to find something to fit your budget. The Abandoned Boiler Room from the Queen Mary Here’s the next photo from the amazing ghost ship! Well, I don’t know if that is what it is really called or not, but we did walk into this room during our little ghost tour aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach. It was very creepy, alright… mostly alone in this huge old ship from the war… and these vast interiors felt very hollow and eerie in their emptiness. I enjoyed taking the photos… and then I enjoyed getting out of there! The following bit is from Wikipedia: “Anecdotal reports of paranormal activity have included children crying in the nursery room, used as the third-class playroom, and a mysterious splashing noise in the drained first-class swimming pool.”- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Germanialand This is the German area of Epcot at DisneyWorld. I know it’s always a bit disappointing when I say this, isn’t it? I wish it was all real too… but, it is close-enough to real, so that’s not so bad. It’s like getting a pretty good milkshake or an above-average massage. No one complains about these things. And I didn’t complain while here either… the architecture and feel was pretty cool… the food was good… no bitter-looking German tourists… a pretty good combo! :)- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Across the Floors of Union Station This room is closed to photography for some reason! Actually, it’s totally closed to all human traffic. I’m not sure if this was a one-time thing, but I got the feeling it was because the ropes and whatnot that told me not to go in here seemed like they had been there for a while. You know the feeling. Perhaps they only open it for the rare events…But I went through the silly ropes and took a photo anyway. The security guard came to get me, but he was pretty nice about it. I just told him that the ropes confused me and I figured they must surely be a mistake.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Ghost Ship in Long Beach The Queen Mary ghost-tour is a must! It’s a great way to see the whole ship while having a cool story wrapped around it. Even better, you can set up for photos and bring a tripod! Some of these places are soooo dark and creepy that there is no way to get a good photo without a tripod. The old pool still had sort of a blueish glow that fought against the orange glow from the lights above. Both together were quite surreal!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Reflections in Yosemite I’m currently with Karen Hutton and many other people in New Zealand. One of my previous trips with Karen was to this very place! We jumped around mud bank after mud bank until we found a clean reflection. It was quite cold… I think we were both thinking of getting back inside for something warm to drink!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The New Facebook HQ I had a fun afternoon walking around the new Facebook campus when I was recently there. Here’s a quick one! :)- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Inside Hearst Castle It’s been a while since I’ve posted any photos from Hearst Castle, but this one stuck out to me. These rooms are so ridiculous in a way, yes? I mean, even if I had all the money in the world, I don’t think I’d ever want a room like this in my house! It’s so formal and unlivable… I prefer something a bit more comfy!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
San Francisco in the Fog SF would not be the same without the fog, would it? It’s part of the city, like the wind in Chicago. But the wind in Chicago kinda sucks, so I guess that is a bad analogy. Maybe a better one is it’s like the water in Venice or the neon in Vegas.I took this photo from the top of Twin Peaks with a 28-300mm lens. I think it’s probably the best spot to take this photo because of the black background behind the bridge. If you shoot it from the other side, then you get the city behind it. Of course, that can be cool too – it’s just a different sort of shot.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
