A Moving Sunset When the sun started going down in Milford Sound, I figured I was going to start using up a lot of memory cards. I’m still using those RAW Steel cards that are 16GB each. The D800 has been filling up my cards pretty quickly, so I’ve been thinking about upgrading to 32GB. Rounding the Bend to Glenorchy Each time I go around the bend from Queenstown to Glenorchy, I see something spectacular. I know there are a few people that live in Glenorchy and work in Queenstown, so that means they get to make this drive every day. Oak on Winter Sunrise I hiked through a frost-covered meadow in the morning to get up under this tree. And it was one of those meadows with very long grasses that formed little frosty mounds. They gave way with each step with the sound of a tiny crunch that spring back up after you pass. But the moisture is so light and cool, it is not even noticed until you look down and see your shoes have a slick coating of their own.I then got up underneath this old oak tree with my wide-angle lens, aiming it in the direction of the rising sun. Yosemite Valley View My first trip to Yosemite was so fun!I've been to Yellowstone about a dozen times, so it was strange never to have a trip to Yosemite under my belt. The Most Beautiful Road in the World I found it!I've looked at travel guides and driven on a ton of beautiful, scenic roads all over the world, but I think this road to Queenstown (on the way to/from Glenorchy) is the most beautiful in the world. The road winds down one side of a perfect, fjord-like lake, and every few kilometers, the mountain views change dramatically. Depending upon the time of day you travel it, the entire landscape transforms before your eyes.Wonder what it looks like on the other side of the lake? You won't believe that it is in the same place! See this photo called Mountainstorm that I took on a previous trip to this location. It was shot later in the evening, so I wasn't able to properly capture the road that time.What's the prettiest road you have ever found? I've seen conflicting guides of the most beautiful roads in the US... I'm sure everyone has their opinion... Balloons at Disney I've been trying to capture a shot of balloons at Disney forever... it took a while before I found something with which I was happy! Do you know these balloons cost $10? TEN DOLLARS! A ten dollar balloon... but they do light up. So that's kinda cool. What isn't cool is that you have to buy one for every single kid in your retinue. One other cool thing (kinda secret) is that if it ever goes flat or pops, you can bring it back to get a free one. Technically, you could even bring it back the next year and still get a new one.
