The Private Pool at Hearst This is the second photo of this pool I have published. It’s from the other side — the wider side. How cool would it be to have a little party in here. Let’s set that up!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Carrier
I've been wanting to process this photo forever -- I love carriers.

This one is open to the public, but I arrived too late to get up on the deck... So I was stuck on the ground level -- but then a sweet fog rolled in to cover part of the carrier.

Beautiful San Francisco I just got back from a crazy three days in San Francisco. The trip included everything from visits to Google, YouTube, Facebook, breakfast with Scoble, Smugmug, Microsoft at a Calacanis event (where the upcoming app WON Audience Choice!), then finally a PhotoWalk in SF with Thomas Hawk. It was completely exhausting, but very fun. After the Facebook talk, I headed to downtown San Francisco with Tom Anderson to get this photo. It was a great night!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Superquad
It was an amazing turnout! After the Google talk (which is being editing now), we all went over to Stanford for a mega-photowalk. Towards the end of the PhotoWalk, we ended up in this amazing area... here is my photo that I took... I think it was one of my last of the evening. Thanks again to everyone that came along :)

Big Sur Sunset
Last week I promised I would reveal the photo today that I took during the video above, and here it is.

I guess you can get the sense from that video how windy it was! What a crazy day... I spent all afternoon and evening getting ready for this. There was a decent amount of hiking, preparation, and walking-around to figure out the best place to stand.

Maybe the bad thing about that video is showing how easy it all appears to be... in future videos, you may see some more of the problems that I face and how I deal with them. In some ways, I think that is more real than something that appears to fairy-book perfect!

Dinner at the Post Ranch Inn
This is the second photo I have released from the Post Ranch Inn (first one here). It's such a beautiful place, and, while not exploring the property, we were busy looking forward to a great dinner. Just outside the restaurant is this earthy sculpture and waterfall. It was very nice the way the evening light came and refracted through the water... I don't think I've ever been able to watch the sunset through a sheet of water, so it was quite nice.

Dining at Hearst
"You wanna see a secret passage?" the old security guard asked me.

"Are you kidding?" I asked.

And with that, he showed me how to get up into this area. It wasn't super-duper-secret, since this is how singers used to get up high to entertain the guests below.

I'm glad I'm not one of those people that has to choose who sits where in these big banquet events. I think people in these situations really get their nose out of joint if they don't get to sit next to so-and-so. But, if you're hanging out and dining in Hearst Castle, you have to look pretty hard to find something to complain about! :)

The Black Rock

When I was in Big Sur spending a few days at the Post Ranch Inn, one of the places I wanted to visit was this amazing beach not too far from there. I planned on getting there early so I would have time to set up. We got there a little too early, and the sun was too high in the sky. But we still took time to check out the scene. It was hellishly windy, but I did grab a this shot below before we retreated to a nearby cafe to get some hot chocolate before returning for the sunset. The sunset gave us some amazing light for a crazy ocean sunset, but I'll save that for a future day....

The Post Ranch Inn at Dusk How awesome is this room? Each of the rooms here at the Post Ranch Inn (nice time-lapse on that website, eh?) are cool, so I don't think this one was special in that regard. In fact, I have another photo I processed last night of one of the little tree-house-rooms I saw on the way to dinner. I'll post that one soon...Whenever I check into a hotel, I always feel like a dork because I say, "Hello, you don't know me but I'm a photographer, so having a really good view at sunrise is important." I don't think this ever amounts to a hill of beans, except for here! The nice lady that set me up said that the mountain-view had the best light for photography. She said this with such authority that I did not question it! And she was right...I took this one evening at dusk before walking up the path to an amazing dinner. - Trey Ratcliff Read more here at www.stuckincustoms.com.
