Park and East 42nd in New York City The evening after the big NYC photowalk, I decided to go off on my own and do a bit of shooting. Well, I wasn’t totally on my own. Luke (from here at SIC) was there with me. He was taking mobile-phone photos of me while I was shooting away… a lot of them made their way to the aforementioned Facebook, so I’m sure you can root around in there and see some! :)- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Girl in Austin on BikeWhen I was at South by Southwest, we had an amazing photowalk downtown. After the whole thing was over, I spent about an hour saying hello to people and having my picture taken and this sort of thing. I do always enjoy that… having extra time to meet people is always nice. After I was done, I went into the Driskill to get a few things I left behind. I went out of the lobby to get into Curtis’ car to whisk me away back home when I saw this girl riding one of those pedicabs. I thought she was kinda cute, so I grabbed this quick shot.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the entire post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Dance Recital
I feel like I go to about 20 dance recitals a year! If you have a daughter in dance, then you know what I mean. This was a cold one, and I mean supa-cold. It was about 20 degrees outside, and then recital was, for some reason, outside. I was going to go sit down and cover up, but the blanket was only big enough for the rest of the family. So I decided to keep moving and take a lot of photos. I went back behind the crowd to get this one just before the show began...- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post, including my thoughts about dance recital photography policies, at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Cheerful Austin Christmas Dragon
It was a great PhotoWalk in Austin last night! Remember to tag your photos with #gplusaustin -- and click around to see some stuff. We had over 100 sign up on plancast, and it got pretty crazy because a lot of people brought friends and family. It was a lot of fun to meet people.

We had one guy come in from South Africa, a gal Karen Hutton come in from California, and many more from all around the Texas area. Everyone we very nice and fun as usual.

I had an autographed 2012 calendar to give away, but I forgot! Sorry that was lame of me... I had it on the floorboard of my car and everything, but with getting the kids out and everything, I forgot - you know how it is.

Last Night in Austin

I was down on South Congress having a little secret dinner meeting about this new app we are building… and then the sun started to go down. Did I have my camera and tripod? Yes yes… of course.. if you invite me to dinner, chances are I'll be bringing them along.

I waited for the right moment before running into the middle lane to get this. It was… exciting. Perhaps a bit more exciting than I anticipated… but, I grabbed it, then stopped at a little local market to get some goodies to gnaw on while driving back home...

The Airship Isabella III
During SXSW, I ended up at a party that had a pretty big steampunk contingent, which is of course very cool to me. I thought I had some good steampunk stuff from Burning Man until I saw these guys...

This was at the Big Bang Bordello Party put on by True Ventures and Tunehopper. It was super-crowded, like most decent SXSW parties, and there was a raucous stage show with a bunch of gals in lingerie and stuff. Is it lame that I hung out with all the steampunk guys in the back? Yes, probably.

Many of them were crew from the Airship Isabella, and they had all kinds of inventive steam-powered goodies. What is Steampunk? Follow that link for the Wikipedia entry... and also, you may remember the Steampunk photo from Burning Man.

The Pub Now, I did not take this one on the PhotoWalk in Austin -- at least, not on THIS PhotoWalk. My apologizes, but this has been a busy time for me and I haven't had a lot of time to process the most recent photos from SXSW! I do have a few, and they are coming up quite soon. Also, you can tell this was taken in the winter, because the sign mentions that the rooftop is heated. In the Texas summer, all rooftops are automatically heated!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.

Park and East 42nd in New York City

The evening after the big NYC photowalk, I decided to go off on my own and do a bit of shooting. Well, I wasn’t totally on my own. Luke (from here at SIC) was there with me.
