Little Church in Yosemite While in the meadows between the mountains of Yosemite, I did not expect to see this little church.And waiting for the right kind of light was another challenge. The light down in the valley is so strange. The sheer walls of the mountains on both sides are so steep that the sun disappears quite early in the day. The Prismatic Cathedral In the webinar, I gave people a small set of images for homework. This is the second of the two sets (the first I posted yesterday). I didn't mean for both to be from Spain, but I guess they are! Anyway, I thought it was kind of fun for people all over the world to be processing my images while I am processing them... kind of strange but cool. A Lonely Night in Iceland I was in the southern area of Iceland, only a few kilometers from the big volcano eruption. There was still a bit of ash scattered around, and I was driving down random side-roads. I made a deal with myself that I would randomly take exits off the main highway to see what I could find. This was one of those occasions.On the way back to the highway, I saw new things. It’s hard to have a 360-degree sense of all compositions while driving. Usually my viewing cone is fully stimulated at 180 degrees while moving forward! So, moving back and forth along roads sometimes provides surprises.I had just spent a few hours around midnight on a black-sand volcanic beach on the shore. I was the only one there, as usual. It’s very creepy, in a way, being on a gigantic black beach in the middle of the night without another car or human anywhere in sight. And I know that it is even beyond my sight for a long way because I had not seen anyone on the drive there. I listened to music and took photos all the while, of course. The Inner Sanctum Here is a cool and relatively unknown place in San Francisco. Can anyone figure out where this mysterious location is?I went in here with my dad while we were looking for cool photo-ops. Meandering in the French Streets After Dark I don't sleep much, even when I am home. I get a good 5-6 hours of sleep a night; but when I travel, I'm so charged up I get less. These foreign city streets seem to have a romantic sense about them, so that impedes even more on my sleep since there are so many great places to shoot.This perfect little European medieval street was in Lyon, if I am not mistaken. Sometimes I forget here in my old age. There's a 10% chance it is in Paris. The Pillars of God This is an awesome church in Paris. These places are great to photograph. I believe this one was taken inside Le Sacre Coeur up near the altar. At the PhotoWalk, I had a few questions about how to get a tripod into a church, of all things! I wrote up a 10-step guide for this sort of activity a while ago that you can view at your leisure!I'm spending the weekend in Atlanta. It's about 10 degrees cooler than Austin here, which means it's still inhumanly hot! I did get a chance to do a little shooting this evening. I'll see if I can grab the sunset tomorrow night!
