Moonrise Kingdom This is one of my favorite new pieces from this year! I just shot it a few days ago.It was shot waaaay after the sun went down in Big Sur, California. This is a crazy waterfall that pours off onto the beach. You can’t see it from the road, and it requires a short walk. I found it thanks to Stuck On Earth, although I am sure other locals have known about this semi-secret place forever! You can go here too… it’s not terribly difficult. It’s called “McWay Falls” and it’s beautiful any time of the day. Also, btw, I’d like to thank those of you that have been ordering more prints recently — I am honored! :) You can always click just below the photo to check sizes and prices to find something to fit your budget. The Lost Cliffs of Oahu This is a very very very rare re-processing of a photo! I usually never go back to a work.. so, this is more the exception than the rule. But I started trying a few different things with Photomatix (that you can see in the Photomatix presets at the site), and I just like the overall feel of the photo better than the previous version. I don’t see myself going back to re-do whole swaths of photos… this one just grabbed me for some reason.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Tunnel Beach This is a really beautiful and unique beach just south of Dunedin. It’s not a drive-up-and-visit-beach. It’s a drive-up-and-walk-a-long-way-then-down-a-long-tunnel-beach. Once we got down there, hardly anyone was at the beach. The views are amazing, and we even saw a few cliff divers. I think those guys are a bit crazy! :)- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Path to the Waterfall This waterfall at Milford is one of those amazing things that churns away all day. Waterfalls that generate a ton of water constantly impress me. It’s hard to get my head around all the water that is in movement all the time, and it’s even more impressive that so much fresh water can be generated without end…- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Farmhouse and Roosting Birds at Dusk
I only got to stay in this magical place for one night.

If you're really into birds, then you may notice a thing or two about this photo. Iceland is known for many species of birds, and you can see a bunch of them roosting back in the cliff there.

A Canyon Oasis This place is deep inside Glacier National Park. The only bad thing about photography is I can't show how deafening the sound of the waterfall inside the canyons was! It ricocheted around the rocky walls and seemed to be perfectly acoustic echo chamber. I didn't get in, but the water seemed super-cold. It was a nice spot to stop and take a break for a bit. You would think the noise would kind of relaxing, but it was less of the alarm-clock-bubbling-brook and more of the 747-emergency-landing...- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Treetop Temple Protects Kyoto I'm just finishing up almost two weeks in Japan, and it has been an amazing trip! Usually I try not to start posting shots until the trip is at its close, and this is the first. While there, I spent time all over the country. I got a rail pass and just jumped on the bullet train to take me from one remote spot to another. I ended up with a few days in Tokyo to do my best to capture the city. I'll be posting photos from the trip throughout the next few weeks, months, and years, as usual. I hope this is a new line of photographs that will be interesting to you.Photographed here is the Kiyomizu-dera temple in Kyoto. The city is known for its traditional Japanese architecture, slower-paced life, natural beauty, graceful geishas, and zen peacefulness. I probably could have stayed in Kyoto capturing scenes the entire trip. I remained here until the sky turned black, and then I headed back down some winding streets to find an old small restaurant where the food was mysterious and every course was served with a gentle bow.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Another Sunset in Austin I think many people in Austin know this place! There is a cliff wall that can be traversed up the side on an easy trail that overlooks the 360 bridge. It's always a beautiful place to come see the sunset over the Colorado. I walked up here a few nights ago when I had the feeling that a good sunset was coming (it's in my bones now). There's also this oddly-shaped tree up there all by its lonesome, and I felt like it should be included too.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Verdant Bough This photo is entitled "The Verdant Bough". The photo was shot at this really cool place in Wyoming I found while running around Yellowstone with my rig. I'm glad I didn't fall down that cliff while shooting, but I guess that goes without saying.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
