Little Church in Yosemite
While in the meadows between the mountains of Yosemite, I did not expect to see this little church. And waiting for the right kind of light was another challenge. The light down in the valley is so strange. The sheer walls of the mountains on both sides are so steep that the sun disappears quite early in the day. Everything becomes a little-bit-dreamy then, and I felt like that was a good time to take the shot.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this entry at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Yosemite Valley View
My first trip to Yosemite was so fun!I've been to Yellowstone about a dozen times, so it was strange never to have a trip to Yosemite under my belt. Yellowstone is great and everything, but it lacks a few of these "epic" scenes, if you know what I mean.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Lighthouse on Roanoke Island at Sunset Ahhhh - finally a good sunset! I keep track of the sunsets like an insane meteorologist combined with a native-American shaman. I do my best to look at each day and figure out how things will end up that evening. Predicting more than a day ahead is almost impossible, unless you are at a special place on the planet around a certain type of year.On this day in North Carolina, I knew that the late afternoon storm was a small cell, and it would pass quickly, perhaps letting the sun peak beneath the clouds to light them from the bottom. And, to my satisfaction, it actually happened!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this entry at the Stuck in Customs blog.
San Francisco Cemetery
Right after I got into San Francisco, I went into the YouTube offices for a meeting. Their offices were quite cool! It wasn't entirely what I was expecting, but I don't know what I was expecting. The team there was nice and welcoming, and they were already fans, so that made it easy.Anyway, after the meeting, I went across the street (literally a 10 min walk!) over to this old cemetery that had charming trees scattered about. I was just in time for the sunset...- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this entry on the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Gentle Rays
On my first evening in Yosemite, the sun did some amazing things. There as a big group of Google+ people converging on Yosemite, but I arrived a day early for a little "me" time. Nature must have felt my mojo because it all conspired to create some interesting results as the rays tumbled across the valley floor.

The Lonely Woods, Forever
Here is another photo from our recent Yosemite PhotoWalk last week. The valley floor is full of dense forests that can go on for an eternity. I had a wonderful time exploring these with all my fellow PhotoWalkers. I can't wait to do it all again soon.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest, including some info on why you won't find paid blog posts on stuckincustoms.com, here at Stuck in Customs.
As Night Settles on the Old Lake Here is another photo that is too good to be true… and, unfortunately, it is.This is a replica of Portofinio, Italy. It’s a resort hotel in Orlando, Florida at Universal Studios. It’s so wonderfully fake — and so wonderful at the same time. I can’t quite decide if I like the fakeness of it all. It does make for amazing photos, though, so that is cool. Maybe it’s kind of like a really hot girl that has had a lot of plastic surgery. There’s some fake in there, but it’s still nice to look at. Okay that’s a horrible analogy… but you get the idea…hehe.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Alcatraz in the Dusk
Today's photo was taken recently in San Francisco. That tower you see there in the mid-distance is Coit Tower. Just beyond that, in the middle of the bay, you can see Alcatraz.

I've never made it out to Alcatraz to take photos, but it is on my list. I wonder how much freedom (!) I would have out there to roam around with my tripod. Have any of you gotten out there?

The Lighthouse Here is another photo taken during my Thanksgiving holiday trip to visit family on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.Even though I spent most of the time with family doing family-stuff, I did head out on occasion to take a few photos. I never got to visit the various piers… but the wonderful lighthouses are great subjects for photography… and the skies worked nicely too!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
