The Restaurant in Tokyo that Inspired that Crazy Scene from Kill Bill When I was in Tokyo, I had a great time out with Altus! He stayed with me here in Austin, and we were able to meet up for a fun time of photography out in Tokyo. That’s one of the BEST things about having a blog, I must say! It gives me the chance to meet all kinds of nice people like YOU that extend gracious invitations for photography! After dark, Altus took me to this cool restaurant (btw, the original sized version has nice details on Flickr!) The manager was very nice and let us sit where we wanted and then a carte-blanche for taking photos. He asked if I would send him photos and if I charge… and I told him no… I do this stuff for fun! The Artist Takes a Break In Buenos Aires, there is a very artsy area called La Boca. It's filled with tiny little studios, restaurants, tango in the streets, and all kinds of life. The colors are bright and vibrant, so, of course, I went crazy with my camera there. While exploring, I found this cool artist's studio on the second floor of an interior section. I had on my 24-70mm, and I was admiring her studio at f2.4. Then, by luck, she came to the window to peer out. I grabbed a quick one.This was edited with Nik Software, so I took this opportunity to write a Nik Review for y'all! It's very cool software, and I have put a bunch of new images inside of there... A Little Place I Found on the Way to Dinner in Germany I wish I could walk to dinner every night and find little places like this along the way. Since I carry my tripod and camera just about everywhere, I'd always be ready in case something like this pops up!This was shot in Halle, Germany, just a short train ride from Leipzig. I love how these old churches are often lit with orange lights... I think it always makes them look nice against the blue dusky skies.Setting up the tripod for these evening HDRs always allows you to set the ISO as low as possible, and in aperture priority mode, the shutter will stay open for a long time, letting those clouds drift by and drag light across the lens. The Batmobile Everyone likes the Batmobile yes? It's especially cool when you see one on the side of the road in Texas that some comic-book redneck has souped up to be something that is on the edge of street-legal. I jumped out quick to grab a shot before the owner could come out and hit me with some sort of a 2x4, which I only assumed me might be carrying.
