The Royal Entrance It took me a long time to get this shot right. In fact, in the upcoming HDR DVD, I try to work on another version of this -- a vertical one. No matter what I did, I could not get it quite sharp enough because of some camera shake. This one turned out okay.This is one of the entry hallways into the amazing Venetian hotel in Las Vegas. ilili I was here alone. You can see my laptop there on the table... I like to take a long time to eat while editing photos and listening to music with my earphones on. Every other patron looks at me kind of like a freak. That's quite okay!Luckily, while I was waiting for the food, they let me run around the restaurant with my tripod. This is yet another thing that makes people look at me strangely. They can't imagine why anyone would bring such a monster setup to do such a thing. Most people assume that the restaurant pays me to do it, but the staff knows that is not the case. At one point, the manager came over to talk to me -- not to get mad... just to chat about art and food and life and these sorts of things. And then I ate some amazing food! The Lime Couches One of my favorite sites for finding boutique hotels is Tablet Hotels. They are not an advertiser or anything... I just wanted to thank them for having an awesome service! I quite like staying at boutique hotels. These are usually smaller, quaint, with unexpected interiors. Often times, I like them better than the huge hotels because they seem more intimate and I sometimes get more personalized services.This hotel is The Magnolia in Houston. At least, I am 95% sure that is the name of the place! The Azure Blue Indoor Pool at Hearst Castle I was able to get a private tour throughout Hearst - so that made for an amazing and long day!Thank goodness I had a mass of memory cards... I got so much footage it was crazy!I could have picked a bunch of shots to be the "first", but I thought this one was particularly wonderful. There are two enormous pools at Hearst Castle, and this is the indoor one. This is a nice vantage point because this spot is actually quite difficult to reach! There is no door behind me... so I had to "shimmy" along that edge you see... It was NARROW... the shimmy was like a video game, except while holding a $10,000 camera! Sketchy! But I just had to get over here because I could visualize the shot before it happened...Here's a cool fact about this pool. Nearby, there is a huge room that was intended for a gymnasium that Hearst never constructed. An Amazing Day at the Met On Sunday, I set aside about six hours to spend alone at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Most of you may know by now how I am obsessed with the Impressionists. Don't ever go to a museum with me, because I will bore you for hours on end with strange tidbits. Anyway, the Met has a fantastic collection that kept me busy most of the time... It's rather nice of them to hang on to my paintings for me. One day, when I get some time, I'm going to make a little page here and show some of my favorites.The Man would not let me take a tripod inside, so that was unfortunate. Inside My Secret Cloning Chamber I would love to have a mad scientist lab that is only accessible via a retinal scan and a special dance. Inside I would have all kinds of fabulous things, including a clone chamber where I would clone myself several times so that I could keep track of all my various social networks. The clone would, of course, have the same retina, but it could not gain access into the mad science lab because it would fail the special dance bit.I'd very much like to record a music video in here alongside Flight of the Conchords.As you can see from my intricate tagging system, this was shot in Chicago. A Bar with a View This is an incredible bar in that overlooks the amazing city of Tokyo. The place was amazingly awesome, and I could see it becoming a major hangout if I lived in the city. Then again, everywhere I went I could picture as a major hangout! Can anyone figure out exactly where this was taken? There is a pool down there that is always available for use, and it is surrounded by a ultra-chic bar.
