Ancient China No it isn’t! This was shot at Disneyworld at Epcot center. Want to know a great Disney shooting trick? They won’t like me telling you this… but I’ll tell you anyway. The Disney people are very nice to me, but that won’t stop me from being totally honest with tricky advice! The advice is this. Stay at a resort (this gives you extra hours), and be sure to go to Epcot on their extra-hours night. While there, get the the point as far away from possible as the exit gate at close time. Then you can slowly take your time and work your way back. You’ll see no tourists or anyone! I saw this place almost totally alone… so cool!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Bathwater Warm Pool at Sunset I didn’t actually get in this water, but I was imagining that this was exactly the same as my body temperature. It just kinda looks like that, doesn’t it?I took this photo at the Disney resort on Oahu. I didn’t even stay here… just stopped by for a few hours with Tom to take photos! It’s very pretty there… certainly worth a visit. - Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Morning on the Wet Decks On the Disney Cruise, I made it up for sunrise about 4/7 mornings. That’s not so bad. My goal was to do 7/7 mornings, but I’m only human. The room was always cool and dry, and the outdoors was warm and wet. My lenses needed more time to wake up than me. That foggy-covering lasted a good 10 minutes, and then I gave it a bonus 5 minutes because there is a very slow final ramp-down of the moisture upon the glass. I heard that if you keep your camera in a ziplock bag then take it out that the moisture will form there instead of on the lens. I don’t know if I believe it, but I will try it next time.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Germanialand This is the German area of Epcot at DisneyWorld. I know it’s always a bit disappointing when I say this, isn’t it? I wish it was all real too… but, it is close-enough to real, so that’s not so bad. It’s like getting a pretty good milkshake or an above-average massage. No one complains about these things. And I didn’t complain while here either… the architecture and feel was pretty cool… the food was good… no bitter-looking German tourists… a pretty good combo! :)- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Full Speed Engines on the Disney Cruise I woke up early almost every morning on the Disney Cruise to see what I could see. When you can see the horizon, it makes it pretty predictable that you’ll get a good sunrise. I did go through that painful routine of waking up early and staggering over to the window to open the curtains and look at the clouds. Whenever I saw there were just a few clouds, I’d go for it! Otherwise, if there were a ton of clouds or rain, I would just get back in bed. I swear that is one of the best feelings in the world!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
On Top of the Disney Fantasy This was my first Disney cruise, so I don’t know if I was lucky with the clouds, or if they are usually full of oceanic-drama. I know some of you in the audience are big ocean-sailing-boat people, so you would know…What you see here is one of the “Adult Only” areas of the ship. I was surprised that there were many of these areas spread around, and at least three pools just for grown-ups. It was a nice surprise! :)- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Hard Drinking on a Disney Cruise I guess if that is what you want to do on a Disney Cruise, this is the place to do it. What an amazing bar this is! This is the second photo I posted from this location, and it shows another one of the dynamic backgrounds that swap in and out every few minutes.I spent most of my time up very close to the screens. Not only do they change — but they are also fully animated, showing all the traffic of cars and pedestrians as they move around the city.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The View from the Contemporary Resort After I got off the cruise, we spent a few nights in Disneyworld. I had not stayed in the Contemporary since I was a little boy, so it was kind of fun to be back again. We had a great room with this view out the window. I was only there in the room one night to capture this scene off the balcony, so I tried to make the most of it!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this entry at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Aulani Resort & Spa in Ko Olina I didn’t stay at this hotel, but I did visit for a few hours one evening to take photos for fun. Tom and I went over here since we heard it was pretty nice. Disney resorts are often built for photography, especially in the dusk hours when there is a cool mixture of natural and artificial light. I’d gladly return to this resort to stay for a few nights! - Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
