View from the Google Offices in Downtown Tokyo It was a great event at Google that day and night! After my tech talk, we stayed up in their skyscraper till dark, drinking and eating and taking photos. Luckily, the office windows aim in directly the right direction out of the Roppongi Towers. The windows were all crowded with photographers, and it was a great time. Between shots, I got the chance to talk to a lot of enthusiastic Japanese photographers. I even set up a future-photo-date with the great Takahiro-san… and he would take me to one of his secret bridge locations in Tokyo! That photo will be coming up soon…- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Sleeping in Downtown Dallas What do you think is happening in this photo? It’s full of secrets, like Laura Palmer…We had a tiny, unannounced PhotoWalk in Dallas last week. Hello to those of you that came!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Downtown Sydney I didn’t get to spend as much time in Sydney as I would have liked, but I do look forward to a return trip!It turns out that one of the better angles of Sydney requires a long drive across a bridge and then a series of confusing roads to find this little spot. I’ve forgotten the name (maybe one of you smart Aussies can help me)! While I was here, it was super-windy. Maybe that is normal in this spot. I’m not sure. It was so windy that my camera/tripod blew over! But the D800 took it like a man… no problems… not even a scratch!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Girl in Austin on BikeWhen I was at South by Southwest, we had an amazing photowalk downtown. After the whole thing was over, I spent about an hour saying hello to people and having my picture taken and this sort of thing. I do always enjoy that… having extra time to meet people is always nice. After I was done, I went into the Driskill to get a few things I left behind. I went out of the lobby to get into Curtis’ car to whisk me away back home when I saw this girl riding one of those pedicabs. I thought she was kinda cute, so I grabbed this quick shot.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the entire post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Endless Night Streets of Tokyo
The streets are like this all night long. So, how can you possibly go back to the hotel room? There's never a good breaking point. It is very very hard on my body here, actually, because I usually go back at the point of sheer exhaustion or hunger-breakdown. The last thing I am thinking about is eating or sleeping... but then, once I give in to my body, that's ALL I can think about.

Last Night in Austin

I was down on South Congress having a little secret dinner meeting about this new app we are building… and then the sun started to go down. Did I have my camera and tripod? Yes yes… of course.. if you invite me to dinner, chances are I'll be bringing them along.

I waited for the right moment before running into the middle lane to get this. It was… exciting. Perhaps a bit more exciting than I anticipated… but, I grabbed it, then stopped at a little local market to get some goodies to gnaw on while driving back home...

Work in Tokyo
I set up here for an HDR multi-exposure shot, but then people started running into the office. I thought their running was so nice that I made sure to change my settings around a bit to capture the rush of it all.

I didn't intend to spend so much time around this office building, but I ended up there for about an hour. There are so many nice lines and compositions with the sort of ultra-modern architecture you get in modern buildings...

The Continental Club on South Congress in Austin Here is the next in the series of my collection of the classic spots around Austin. I actually shot this on the same night that I took the Austin Hotel shot. You can probably see a similarity in the deep blue sky that we had just after dusk that evening. People always look at me suspiciously when I set up the tripod for a major shooting event. I’m sure that if you use a tripod that you end up with the same reaction. It’s typically 90% confusion and 10% wonder. Either way, I tend to just ignore everyone, like I’m playing a game and they are NPCs milling around.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Pub Now, I did not take this one on the PhotoWalk in Austin -- at least, not on THIS PhotoWalk. My apologizes, but this has been a busy time for me and I haven't had a lot of time to process the most recent photos from SXSW! I do have a few, and they are coming up quite soon. Also, you can tell this was taken in the winter, because the sign mentions that the rooftop is heated. In the Texas summer, all rooftops are automatically heated!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
