2013 Fireworks in Queenstown I decided to re-crop this photo at the last minute! If you dig around on Google+, you’ll see my first version. It was okay, but I think I like this square one better. Actually, I just can’t make up my mind. I feel like a woman trying on clothes, or, at least, what I think that would feel like.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The View from the Contemporary Resort After I got off the cruise, we spent a few nights in Disneyworld. I had not stayed in the Contemporary since I was a little boy, so it was kind of fun to be back again. We had a great room with this view out the window. I was only there in the room one night to capture this scene off the balcony, so I tried to make the most of it!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this entry at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Fireworks on the Disney Cruise
I was not sure where exactly the fireworks shot off the top of the Disney Fantasy, so I gambled and guessed that this area on Deck 13 in the "Adults Only" area of the ship would be best. There is a little curving area that juts out that I thought would be perfect... I asked a few cast members, and they told me to be over on the starboard side, but I tried to explain that I wanted to get the boat in the shot too -- this confounded them... so, anyway, I was over in this spot pretty much by myself... which is fine with me!- Trey RatcliffRead the rest of this post over at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The RAW Fireworks (and yes, that is a handheld single shot) So, I have in my hot little hands an Advance Copy of Photomatix Pro 4.0 (BTW, the STUCKINCUSTOMS Coupon Code will still save you the most money). Wow this thing is cool! I'm in the middle of a full review/preview. This isn't really it... just a preview of a preview. I know... how lame of me, but I am so excited that I want to leak out a few details.Today's fireworks photo below from Disney World a few nights ago was just processed with Photomatix 4. This is from a single RAW photo. This was a handheld shot as I was walking along a pathway near the Crystal Palace. Amazing, eh?- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Heart of Satan What it looks like when fireworks explode inside of a storm cloud over a river. On this particular night, there was one of those looming thunderstorms, when the clouds are alarmingly low to the ground and black/green in color. They launched the fireworks from the same spot as usual, but they would actually explode inside the cloud. The lower half would burst downward, carrying a trail of fire behind it. The scene reminded me of a giant electric jellyfish of sorts.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Fourth on Lake Austin It was a tough night because I was on the edge of a bridge that was rumbling as cars went across. The evening was very windy, and there was a light driving rain right into my lens. I had to wipe down the lens after every few exposures and try to cup my hands over the top during the shot. This ended up being the first HDR photo to hang in the Smithsonian, and it made my mom very proud.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
