Walking in Yosemite Here’s a photo from a walk along this beautiful little path in Yosemite. It looks very serene and welcoming, yes? Well it is! I was sad I only got to spend one day here in the forest… I’d like to go back. Actually, I’d really like to get to Yosemite when it is snowing. I bet there are a thousand interesting photos all over the place… but now, by the time out I find out it is snowing, it will take me too long to get over there! :(I took this one during the crazy photowalk there… we had so much fun!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Forest on the road to Paradise When you leave Glenorchy and start driving on the dirt road to Paradise, there are a few little wet forested areas that you’ll pass through. It’s worth pulling over your car and just going on a random walk. I recommend following a stream or river so you can always find your way back. Because if you get more than 100 meters from your car and you lose your way, you’ll never find your way again! The heaviness and thickness of the forest is totally confusing, and you’ll be hopelessly confused… but following a little stream is usually a good ticket to find your way back.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Somewhere Along the Coast Can someone help me identify this spot? I’m so embarrassed that I have no memory of this. Usually I tag my photos with the location, but this one is completely unknown! I know it was somewhere here in New Zealand, and I took it back in 2010 during my first road trip across the whole country… but it could be anywhere!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Foggy Road Through The Waterfalls to Milford There is a long tunnel through a mountain upon final approach to Milford Sound. The tunnel itself is unnerving because it is downhill. I’m not used to long tunnels going downhill. Anyway, after you get out, something new always awaits you. I’ve been through the tunnel 10 times now. 3 times there were clouds, and this was one of them. The good news is that the clouds mean rain, and the rain means waterfalls!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Commune, China This is a really cool place near Beijing! It’s an expensive resort, but really quite unique. They had a series of architects come in and create very modern “houses” that are scattered across the hilly countryside. Then, they “repeated” those designs and created many little “rooms” inside each of the houses where you can stay. One of the other great features of the resort is that you can begin a walk up an old river bed for about half a mile before reaching a forgotten, abandoned part of the Great Wall of China.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Secret Path Through the Bamboo Forest I went on a hike through an amazing old forest while on Oahu. It was a wet and rainy day, and the muddy path was so slippery — there was almost a negative friction! At one point about halfway into the hike, we came across this natural door over the pathway formed by the trees. I took a break from the slipping and sliding to get a photo. At the end of the hike, we found a hose down at the bottom… we hosed each other off like a couple of dogs in heat…- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
