Our Galaxy over QueenstownI took this photo on the evening of the Aurora Australis a few weeks ago. I came up with (BY ACCIDENT!) a new way of orienting the Milky Way so it goes straight up and down. Really, in the sky, it is a little bit tilted to the right. Anyway, here’s the trick.When you take the photo, have your camera tilted to the left a bit. Then, when you crop later in Photoshop, turn on the “Perspective” checkbox and drag over the upper left corner until it is parallel with the Milky Way. Yosemite in Late AfternoonI spent about a week in Yosemite, and every day had slightly different light. I was quite sad there was no snow the entire time, but I am excited to go back and see it!Even though there was no snow, I was quite cold. I tried out a new set of gloves which were quite crappy. I think the only kind of situation I like when it is cold is those mittens that flip up so I can use my fingers. The Remarkables If these mountains don't have the coolest name ever, then I don't know what does!The mountains border the lake in Queenstown, but right before they dip into the deep water, a gentle dollop of green hills present themselves. The Cheerful Austin Christmas Dragon It was a great PhotoWalk in Austin last night! Remember to tag your photos with #gplusaustin -- and click around to see some stuff. We had over 100 sign up on plancast, and it got pretty crazy because a lot of people brought friends and family. It was a lot of fun to meet people. We had one guy come in from South Africa, a gal Karen Hutton come in from California, and many more from all around the Texas area. Everyone we very nice and fun as usual. I had an autographed 2012 calendar to give away, but I forgot! Sorry that was lame of me... Pink Mountains During Morning Sunrise Te Anau is a great little town down in the southern fjord area of New Zealand. It's sort of the stopping-off point for Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound. It's also a great home base for photography, because there are countless things to see within just a short drive. Spanish Tomatoes I was walking through this famous market in Barcelona when one of the editors from Peachpit Press recognized me! What a small world. He is not the editor that worked on my book, but he did a lot of other photography books up there. He was a super-nice guy...and doing the same thing as me...hunting around for photos! I bought and ate a lot of different things at this place... I wasn't even hungry... but I just kept buying and eating and buying and eating. Grey London The two greyest cities I have been to are London and Vancouver. But the architecture is so different in both. I prefer bright and colorful architecture, especially in those environs. Sometimes with grey/white/silver/black buildings, I feel like I'm in some futuristic dystopian techno movie... something like... oh Equilibrium. Have you all seen that one? Anyway, this is kind of a cool building, despite it's greyness!
