On the Road to Somewhere After an accident on an ATV, I was stuck on this road for a long time while waiting for rescue. Luckily, the camera and tripod were uninjured and the time I was waiting for happened to be sunset. The Lonely Road to the Dinosaur Dig It was an amazing week out with Jack Horner and his crew. We could not have been any more remote! Out deep in the wheat fields of Montana, we were met every morning with amazing sunrises and the evenings had these surreal sunsets.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Calm After the Storm A few days ago I posted a picture of the storm at the airport here in Palm Beach. I was contemplating flying into the heart of the storm instead of sitting in a room full of attorneys for the day. Today I chose the latter and it was about as much fun as it sounds. It was my first time through this particular experience and it wasn't what I would call a rockin' good time. I wish I could have said, "Your honor, the witness (me) is being badgered" but there was no judge, just a bunch of lawyers quoting rules and regulations I've never heard of. I think, technically, lawyers have formed a sovereign nation who have created a set of rules that abstract them and all behavior from regular society. That's another pseudo-sociological concept I am working on, but is a rather empty thing to really think about unless you are on a break in one of those badgering-sessions. After the session, I headed out to get some pictures around Palm Beach. I twisted my ankle in an effort to get this one... that dock is even more uneven than it looks!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Setting Sun and the Farm As I was leaving a network of jagged roads through some mountains at the end of a fjord, I emerged out into this Icelandic fertile crescent of sorts. There were tiny farms all over the countryside and they looked very nice while the sun was setting, so I grabbed this shot to remember it!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Open Road I had a long lonely weekend in Iceland, so I took my rental Jeep out into the wild. I drove all over the country from dawn till dusk seeing what I could find. The sky and landscape was an ever changing palette of colors and clouds. The sun is so low on the horizon during the winter that it is almost like a 5-hour sunrise followed by a 5-hour sunset. I drove up and down one of these highways to the next, listening to all kinds of strange and eclectic music on my iPod, occasionally jumping out to take a shot of something like this... it was a perfect weekend. In the distance, you can see the snowy mountains which always seem to be just a few songs away.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
