Lighthouse in Iceland The northwest fjords in Iceland have quickly become one of my favorite areas of the country. People ask me all the time, "I'm going to XXXX country, where should I go?" That is one of the reasons I created the new Stuck On Earth -- for just that purpose. Now, when you zoom into Iceland, you'll see a big collection of images up in this area. Farmhouse and Roosting Birds at Dusk I only got to stay in this magical place for one night. If you're really into birds, then you may notice a thing or two about this photo. Alcatraz in the Dusk Today's photo was taken recently in San Francisco. That tower you see there in the mid-distance is Coit Tower. Just beyond that, in the middle of the bay, you can see Alcatraz. I've never made it out to Alcatraz to take photos, but it is on my list. I wonder how much freedom (!) I would have out there to roam around with my tripod. The Weather Station I don't think I could exactly geo-locate this photo if I had to. But, believe me - it's in the middle of nowhere. I'm not completely sure, but I think this is one of the many remote weather stations scattered around Iceland. Little Elves, Little Waterfall Going into one of the valleys by Isafjordur takes you to many little homes near waterfalls. I thought this one was quite lovely. And if you look to the left there, you'll see the tiny homes they also built for the elves. I was editing this photo at dinner one evening in Isafjordur. One of the waitresses saw this house, recognized it, and said, "Oh that's jklasdj(jkasdj^dhsaj". Reflections on the Eiffel Tower Isn't it romantic? What could be more perfect than a beautiful sunset here in Paris?There was a big storm all day long, but I could see the clouds were beginning to break up a little to the west, and I knew there was a possibility the sun would dip into an opening beneath the heavy clouds. So, with that intense possibility, I headed over to the Eiffel Tower area hoping the light would turn out right...I also made a behind-the-scenes video. Horse in Landscape Remember what I said a few days ago about reasons for no stopping for almost every horse photo in Iceland? Forget I said that. I don't know what I was talking about. Go ahead and stop... I mean, how on earth can you pass this buy?These horses remind me a bit of the sirens in Odysseus, distracting me from my destination... Flaxen Horse at Sunrise The problem with horses in Iceland is that you can't pass a farm with them frolicking about without...wondering...hmmm...I wonder if I could get a good shot. And then, of course, something in you tells you that Yes, of course, you could get a good shot. And then, you have to come up with reasons not to stop at every farm and take photos of every horse, since they all come out interesting.So, naturally, this is a strange situation, in which you have to willingly force yourself to drive past something that you know would be amazing.
