The light down in the valley is so strange. The sheer walls of the mountains on both sides are so steep that the sun disappears quite early in the day. Waterfall of Certain DoomThis has become one of my favorite remote waterfalls in the world! Whenever I am taking photos of these places, I spend a lot of time there. The Lodge at Night On the final night of the Yosemite PhotoWalk, we ended up here to explore the evening. This is the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite, and I hope I made it look as beautiful as it really is. This is also the place that Steve Jobs got married.Karen Hutton and I arrived here very late at night after our extra-long walk! We could even see a few people camping for the night halfway up the mountain they were climbing. The Mariposa Woods
While we were at Yosemite for the big PhotoWalk, we took an evening to visit the Mariposa Woods. They were very close to our hotel, and it was an easier drive than going all the way to the main park at Yosemite. Plus, I had a feeling the sunset would be quite stunning through the trees. My feelings don't always work out, but this time it did.My methods still haven't changed for these kinds of shots. Seven exposures: from +3 to -3 seems to get the job done. Google Doodle
The new Google offices in Los Angeles are right in the heart of Venice. After passing through some hardcore security, you walk down this hallway, which I guess is a bit like dying and going to Google heaven.You probably know about all the various Google doodles that decorate the home page. The Lonely Woods, Forever
Here is another photo from our recent Yosemite PhotoWalk last week. The valley floor is full of dense forests that can go on for an eternity. She was broken by time and the winds beat her into the dirt below. She sank into it without control. A gentle grace hungered in the vibrations that pulsed out from her previous life. Some people saw this and they came to bask, to climb, to commune, to sit, to laugh, to cry, to hold hands, to find a hand to hold, to stroll, to watch the moon, to add to the vibrations, to clambor, to hold, to rest, to meditate, to feel something new as she sank ever deeper into the earth, leaving rhythms of new life behind.

New York, Yellow Cab
Here is one of my favorite areas of New York. It's right by the famous Flatiron building -- but I obviously did not shoot in that direction here.

There's often a nice traffic flow, and it makes for a fun experiment to time out the traffic. Since I shoot from -2 to +2., I try to predict when the middle exposure will in the right spot to get the right amount of blur on that photo. My rules for this are a little different based on the time of day and a few other factors.

Dragon in the Fire
I don't use my "big" camera too much out in the desert because of the sandstorms... So I've been using this little Olympus PEN camera from time to time, and I like the results. Of course, I do a bit more post-processing and this sort of thing... but I'm happy with the results generally from this new line of cameras.

At Burning Man, there are hundreds of unique vehicles that roll around the desert during all times of the day and night. It's a feast for the eyes and the camera! :)

The Action of New York City
I just finished working on this photo. It was a difficult one, but it was a lot of fun. Shots in Manhattan are often filled with all kinds of complex activity, and Times Square amps that all up to the next order of magnitude.

The weather was perfect this day, and I know that isn't always the case. Since everything was more or less idyllic, I decided to make the most of it and see how many compositions I could squeeze into the afternoon. The only time I spent waiting around was watching for a few Yellow Cabs to streak by.
