Rowboat at the Still Lake We walked around The Hills one morning, and we came to this place after the sun was beyond its “sunrise” phase. The sky was the peaceful morning infinite blue and the water was still as ice. There were many good angles to shoot across this peaceful scene, and most of us chose this view! :)It was cool to do this and be with so many other nice photographers that were taking similar shots. The Gardens of Queenstown The class took a nice stroll through these gardens. I challenged people to try to get five different photos of this bridge, and this was one of mine.The actual shot I took was much bigger, but I decided to crop down in post to focus on the water. I liked the way they all looked like brush strokes. Reflections in Yosemite I’m currently with Karen Hutton and many other people in New Zealand. One of my previous trips with Karen was to this very place! We jumped around mud bank after mud bank until we found a clean reflection. The Golden Pavilion (or Kinkaku-ji for my new Japanese friends)This is one of the most famous temples in Kyoto, so of course I had to go. It's sort of like going to the Eiffel Tower in Paris or Rudy's BBQ in Austin.It was originally built back in 1397 and has been destroyed and rebuilt several times. The building itself is as meticulous as the gardens around it. The Japanese really know how to tend a garden! There was a fleet of workers all over the grounds, sweeping up and rearranging little bits here and there. On Frozen Pond I probably should not have been standing in the middle of this frozen pond, but when you are raised in Texas and you rarely get to see anything frozen, you get fascinated by large frozen bodies of water. I just stared at it for a long time like a deer that's never seen headlights in the forest. I felt the saying, "When in Rome", and somehow replaced it with "When in Reykjavik..." I slowly shuffled my feet out to the middle, using my tripod as an Imperial Hoth Walker to secure my footing.
