Abandoned Ruins in Dalefield This is the turn-around-point for my jogging route! I run around this area between Queenstown and Arrowtown and end up at this place. Sometimes if I am feeling more full-of-energy (rare), I’ll go a bit longer, but usually not. This is a beautiful place to loop around and begin my return-journey.I don’t know much about this place, other than it is a bit hidden from the road. If you look for it off Speargrass Flats, then you can see it, but you’ll never notice it if you’re just driving down the road like a normal person. The New Garden Path Along the Great Wall of China Just to get to this point required a long walk through a rocky forest. It wasn’t like the super-pristine part of the Great Wall (which is actually quite fake and Disney-like) — where you can drive up in a huge tour bus and park in huge parking lot. No, it wasn’t like that at all. Instead, there was a “path” that was barely discernable (much less so when I walked back in the dark alone!) that wove up through a forest along an old creekbed. The Ruins of the old Copper Mine Here’s another view of the ruins at sunrise. I was down on the island for about two weeks, and it was very nice to have a guaranteed nice sunrise every morning! The skies were never dull… always clouds and drama. A Moody Evening at the Great Wall One of the good things about the haze around parts of China are the moody sunset hours. The Ruins on the CoastOne early morning, Curtis and I woke up to drive to the other side of the island and explore these old ruins. The Abandoned Engine Room of the Coppermine This copper mine on the edge of Virgin Gorda was a great find thanks to Stuck On Earth! Prambanan Sunset Sometimes the lighting is best right after the sunset. And sometimes this is right when the police come to get you. Maybe they were security guards. But it was hard to tell in the dark - and, besides, I didn't know the difference between the clothes of a security guards and a policeman in Indonesia. I had Will with me when these guys approached us, and he was not help at all. He did manage to keep them busy for a while so I could take some final shots, but we could tell that we had worn out our welcome.
