The Rapture The drive to Milford Sound is probably the prettiest in the world. The landscapes were just outrageous. It's a 2-hour drive, but it took me about 5! Along the way, the clouds and sun were doing some crazy things. I drove down to the beach to grab this scene, just at the perfect time. - Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Trees and an Aircraft Carrier in the Fog The time I spent in San Diego was very moody and covered in fog. I went down to the shore one night to spy the USS Midway. The fog was pea-soup thick and it gave the environs quite the mood. I found these amazing trees nearby that seemed wonderfully illuminated against the glow from the aircraft carrier.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
A Sea of Glass - The Chihuly Exhibit at the Bellagio in Vegas I've always thought the Dale Chihuly glass sculptures are some of the coolest things in the world. I'd love to learn how to blow glass. It always looks dangerous and exotic. I remember when I got my HDTV a few years ago, one of the first shows I saw was when Chihuly was doing this exhibit in Venice. He spent some time in Murano, which is near Venice and a famous place for glass blowing. They made these amazing sculptures then hung them all over Venice. I wish I could have gone there to take photographs of the event! In other news, I was interviewed yesterday by an extremely nice guy named Victor Cajiao who hosts a podcast called "Typical Shutterbug". Click there and you can hear my interview. We talk a little about the upcoming book, HDR, do's and don't, and this sort of thing. If you enjoyed the show, leave him a comment there -- I'm sure he'd appreciate it!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Anyone Want to Join Me at the Beach for a Good Conversation? I’ll take the seat on the left… no… okay, the one on the right. It’s alright… sit in whichever one you like. Where should we put our drinks? Ahhh the grass will be fine… okay, now, what to discuss? So many places to start!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Calm After the Storm A few days ago I posted a picture of the storm at the airport here in Palm Beach. I was contemplating flying into the heart of the storm instead of sitting in a room full of attorneys for the day. Today I chose the latter and it was about as much fun as it sounds. It was my first time through this particular experience and it wasn't what I would call a rockin' good time. I wish I could have said, "Your honor, the witness (me) is being badgered" but there was no judge, just a bunch of lawyers quoting rules and regulations I've never heard of. I think, technically, lawyers have formed a sovereign nation who have created a set of rules that abstract them and all behavior from regular society. That's another pseudo-sociological concept I am working on, but is a rather empty thing to really think about unless you are on a break in one of those badgering-sessions. After the session, I headed out to get some pictures around Palm Beach. I twisted my ankle in an effort to get this one... that dock is even more uneven than it looks!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
