The Abandoned Boiler Room from the Queen Mary Here’s the next photo from the amazing ghost ship! Well, I don’t know if that is what it is really called or not, but we did walk into this room during our little ghost tour aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach. It was very creepy, alright… mostly alone in this huge old ship from the war… and these vast interiors felt very hollow and eerie in their emptiness. Morning on the Wet Decks On the Disney Cruise, I made it up for sunrise about 4/7 mornings. That’s not so bad. My goal was to do 7/7 mornings, but I’m only human.The room was always cool and dry, and the outdoors was warm and wet. My lenses needed more time to wake up than me. That foggy-covering lasted a good 10 minutes, and then I gave it a bonus 5 minutes because there is a very slow final ramp-down of the moisture upon the glass. I heard that if you keep your camera in a ziplock bag then take it out that the moisture will form there instead of on the lens. The Ghost Ship in Long Beach The Queen Mary ghost-tour is a must! It’s a great way to see the whole ship while having a cool story wrapped around it. Even better, you can set up for photos and bring a tripod! Some of these places are soooo dark and creepy that there is no way to get a good photo without a tripod.The old pool still had sort of a blueish glow that fought against the orange glow from the lights above. Full Speed Engines on the Disney Cruise I woke up early almost every morning on the Disney Cruise to see what I could see. When you can see the horizon, it makes it pretty predictable that you’ll get a good sunrise. I did go through that painful routine of waking up early and staggering over to the window to open the curtains and look at the clouds. Whenever I saw there were just a few clouds, I’d go for it! Otherwise, if there were a ton of clouds or rain, I would just get back in bed. On Top of the Disney Fantasy This was my first Disney cruise, so I don’t know if I was lucky with the clouds, or if they are usually full of oceanic-drama. I know some of you in the audience are big ocean-sailing-boat people, so you would know…What you see here is one of the “Adult Only” areas of the ship. I was surprised that there were many of these areas spread around, and at least three pools just for grown-ups. Hard Drinking on a Disney Cruise I guess if that is what you want to do on a Disney Cruise, this is the place to do it. What an amazing bar this is! This is the second photo I posted from this location, and it shows another one of the dynamic backgrounds that swap in and out every few minutes.I spent most of my time up very close to the screens. The Russian Sub and the Queen Mary This was my first time to sneak onto a Russian sub.These are the kinds of things you probably are not supposed to do, but I figure the risk was about 1000% lower since the sub was no longer in Russian waters. In fact, it’s in friendly Long Beach, docked alongside the Queen Mary.There was almost no security, and the gate was fairly easy to scale. I was with Tom, and somehow we talked one another into it.
