The Skyline of Melbourne from Across the River Melbourne has one of the most “walkable” skylines I’ve seen. It runs all up and down the river and looks pretty from both sides. It also works out well because there is very little to obstruct your view. It’s the complete opposite, of, say, Bangkok, where getting a view across the river is next to impossible.I look forward to going back to Melbourne to walk along this river many more times!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Boston at Sunset
Boston is great and I am sad I've only spent a short amount of time there. On this evening, I walked along the waterfront here to look at all the various angles and light levels. They were all good! That's a sign of a good city when it is hard to take a bad photo of it!

Tokyo from a Window Tokyo is one of those cities that looks incredible from every angle and from every window! If you are like me, whenever you see a window, you sometimes act a bit like a dork and move your body and head in strange ways to "frame a photo". Do you do that? Maybe it's just me. And it's not just windows... it's everything that forms some kind of a square or rectangular frame on the world. This time, I happened to have my camera with me and I set up the shot so it was just exactly what I saw out the window.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
La Ville de Paris Gets Ready for Night I was on the hill in the Montmartre part of Paris just after the sun had set. I pointed the camera over the sprawl of the city just as the lights were coming on for the evening. I made it my personal mission to walk down into the city that evening, meander around, and visit at least three pastry shops and eat a silly number of desserts. I tricked myself into thinking that I might be burning a lot of calories by doing so much walking. It's amazing how easily I was able to justify French desserts.Trey's Tip: While taking photos, it's good to have a few side-quests to keep an eye out for. In my case, it's eating pastries. This is not the healthiest side-goal, but it's a fun one! Anyway, my point is that you don't just have to be a "photography machine" -- you can always do a few things at the same time to enrich the overall experience.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Neo Monoliths of Chicago After my meeting I headed downtown to see the new Millennium Park that recently opened. It was incredibly surreal and awesome. Here is a nice shot I grabbed... these are video walls that cycle in and out different pictures.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Stück in Germany - Dresden After the Bombing, Way after the Bombing After the carpet bombing from the American and the British in 1945, the city of Dresden was left in ruins. in the past 60 years, the city has been meticulously rebuilt to its former glory.I had a busy week at the game show in Leipzig... did some good deals and had good meetings... and I took the train on Saturday to Dresden to explore while all the other game people seem to go out to bars until 4 AM and drink, well, like Germans. I don't know if I am lame for going to bed early then waking up at 6 AM to catch an early train to a city to explore, but that's okay with me. Just me and my ipod and my camera...I've been completely blown away by Dresden. It was recommended to me by a few friends and after spending the day there, I have to say that it compares closely to some of my best photography days around Italy or France. The Baroque architecture is stunning and it is completely unique and charming. I wish I had more time there, but I did get a bunch of good shots I will sprinkle into my stream in coming weeks.I'm off to Ukraine next... Aeroflot here I come. I hope the mechanic does not come down the aisle again making a collection to buy a part for the plane. That never inspires confidence.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
