Man on Horse in Lijiang Square When I arrived into the middle of this opening within the tight city of Lijiang, a fresh rain had just made everything nice and slick. New York City TravelSo this is my newest photo of Times Square. I return to this spot time and time again. The situation, light, cars, people, and billboards are always different, so it’s never a dull subject. It’s also always such a challenge to shoot that it keeps all my senses fully honed. In fact, I’m already thinking about going back to New York City for another photograph of Times Square!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read this entire post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Action of New York City
I just finished working on this photo. It was a difficult one, but it was a lot of fun. Shots in Manhattan are often filled with all kinds of complex activity, and Times Square amps that all up to the next order of magnitude.

The weather was perfect this day, and I know that isn't always the case. Since everything was more or less idyllic, I decided to make the most of it and see how many compositions I could squeeze into the afternoon. The only time I spent waiting around was watching for a few Yellow Cabs to streak by.

The Mean Streets of Tokyo Tokyo has amazing action all the time. There is never a good time to sleep or turn off the camera! Every minute I sleep, I feel like I am missing something! This was taken close to midnight on another evening when I was just randomly walking around the downtown streets. It's all a wonderland of lights, colors, people, and sounds. I've noticed there are many kinds of "sensory overload" - and they are all on a sliding scale from good to bad. - Trey Ratcliff Read the rest here at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Megapolis I was spending the day with various characters including June Arunga, Paul Roussin, and Cali Lewis while hunting around New York City for some interesting shots. I never get tired of shooting there. It's a bit like the ocean in a way... it changes and cycles with the light and the motion. I find myself circling back to the same bits again and again to see how things have changed.I don't know why I happened to be posting this one so close to the Petaluma puddle shot from a few days ago... I suppose it is just somewhat of a coincidence! The hardest bit about these shots is getting my head so close to the ground. It's impossibly awkward, and I'm sure I look like quite the loon, splayed out across the pavement of Times Square!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Stück in Germany - Dresden After the Bombing, Way after the Bombing After the carpet bombing from the American and the British in 1945, the city of Dresden was left in ruins. in the past 60 years, the city has been meticulously rebuilt to its former glory.I had a busy week at the game show in Leipzig... did some good deals and had good meetings... and I took the train on Saturday to Dresden to explore while all the other game people seem to go out to bars until 4 AM and drink, well, like Germans. I don't know if I am lame for going to bed early then waking up at 6 AM to catch an early train to a city to explore, but that's okay with me. Just me and my ipod and my camera...I've been completely blown away by Dresden. It was recommended to me by a few friends and after spending the day there, I have to say that it compares closely to some of my best photography days around Italy or France. The Baroque architecture is stunning and it is completely unique and charming. I wish I had more time there, but I did get a bunch of good shots I will sprinkle into my stream in coming weeks.I'm off to Ukraine next... Aeroflot here I come. I hope the mechanic does not come down the aisle again making a collection to buy a part for the plane. That never inspires confidence.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
