Farm Between Fjords The fjords of Northern Iceland weave in and out of the ocean, each one ending with a strong peninsula that juts out into the sea. Just on the inland side of these wide peninsulas, there are many lakes and little farms that sit nestled between little mountains and hillocks. They fit in so naturally that you almost don't even notice them. Little Elves, Little Waterfall Going into one of the valleys by Isafjordur takes you to many little homes near waterfalls. I thought this one was quite lovely. And if you look to the left there, you'll see the tiny homes they also built for the elves. I was editing this photo at dinner one evening in Isafjordur. One of the waitresses saw this house, recognized it, and said, "Oh that's jklasdj(jkasdj^dhsaj". Another Summer Day in Paris I'm having an amazing time in Paris. As usual, it's off-the-rails perfect. The weather has been remarkable, the sunsets amazing, and the chocolate flows like mana from heaven. I made it over to the Eiffel Tower for a big night of shooting, and arrived there just as the sun was setting. I have a few little special spots I like to visit around the tower that are not full of tourists and the like.This shot looks much more delicate, perhaps, than I did while achieving it. Unfortunately, this was one of those tricky ones where the tripod legs were splayed out like a flattened armadillo. The Grotto This is Hamilton Pool, one of the best kept secrets in Austin. The preserve’s pool and grotto were formed when the dome of an underground river collapsed thousands of years ago. There is a ring of 45-foot waterfalls all around the rim. A Soft Summer Night in the Marsh My shoes have never been the same since I started tromping through this muck. That part didn't bother me so much, but I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to make a hasty escape if something started running after me. I didn't see anything that would start a chase... there was a herd of about 14 elk about 300 meters away. I had never seen them stampede randomly in the direction of a photographer, so I felt kinda good about that. Remember, all of these were just half-fleeting thoughts that were only half-baked... Sunset Storm over Kuala Lumpur A series of violent storms came through Kuala Lumpur, allowing a few surreal shots of the city. It went from very dark and cloud to torrential downpour to beautiful sunset. It reminded me of the storms on the plains of Texas.Kuala Lumpur is a very interesting city and is quite unique in Asia. I’d love to get up on top of those Petronas Towers there to take some shots, but I look like a suspicious white guy with my huge backpack. Hong Kong from the Peak on a Summer's Night If you want to see how I made this (and how you can too!), visit my HDR Tutorial. I hope it gives you some new tricks!I had a long day waking up at 5 AM to take a series of subways and trains up to Shenzen for some meetings. I had a Chinese VISA, which you don't need to get into Hong Kong, but I had to use to cross the official Chinese border after getting off the train. I didn't realize that it was a one-time use VISA, and I had to go to Shanghai the next day. This caused a lot of problems with the Chinese officials, a body of government with which I do not enjoy causing problems.Anyway, after I got back to Hong Kong after a day in Shenzen, I was hot and sweaty and in the sort of meeting clothes that aren't great for being hot and sweaty in. But, everything about Hong Kong was still awesome and I had too look hard for things to complain about.
