This is Sujatmi Sujatmi’s dream is that her grandkids grow up to be brave and smart. She is currently sitting in a makeshift annex area in a bustling riverside community in Jogjakarta, Indonesia. Dozens of tiny thatched and improvised houses are cobbled together and brightly painted. There are kids running around and other adults running after them, trying to get them to sit still so they can begin school. I’ve accidentally interrupted the whole affair while getting confused in the tiny alleys, no wider than a set of shoulders. The Homes by the river in Indonesia The density of the homes was remarkable, everyone right on top of the next. Bistrot de Lyon I went out to dinner with a bunch of cool Russians after the conference on Tuesday. We went down one of the most popular streets in Lyon to have some seafood. Afterwards, the founder of this other company and I went out to shoot photos.. I think we walked the streets for about 3 hours until 2 AM. It was a big mistake since my flight left early the next morning! Salaryman in Tokyo While I was in the middle of making a time-lapse sequence (see the video below the photo), I was using my D3S on a sling to take quick photos of interesting people. They were everywhere!Behind me, waiting for the light to change, was this young salaryman. Salaryman is the Japanese word for “businessman”. That word salaryman always cracks me up for some reason. Anyway, he was this young kid, standing there in a most unassuming way in this nice suit. I spun around and grabbed a quick shot.He looked a little confused at me after I took it. Man Crossing Street I spent a lot of time in this dynamic area of Tokyo. It's sort of the techno-nerd electronic center of the Japanese world. So I felt right at home there with my fellow nerds. But this guy certainly stood out. He was crossing the street and looking extremely Japo-cool. I pulled up my 50mm and waited for the time to feel right before I snapped the photo. The Fed Ex Forum Awaiting the New Season I was lucky enough to get a tour of the Memphis Grizzlies home stadium when there was hardly anyone around. The Fed-Ex Forum is an amazing facility. I think it looks like a great place to go watch games. The surrounding downtown area is also very cool... seems like it would be a great way to spend a night out. I've never been in Memphis on game night, but I'll be sure to make that happen some time!Also I got to go back in the locker room and meet some of the players. The guys were so nice and affable... I couldn't get over it. I don't know what I expected, but they were just all really young nice dudes. And then I saw this little underwater rehab/training facility. It was really wide and had this conveyor belt that ran under water. I asked why it was so wide and was told it was originally used for horse rehab! The Megopolis Hong Kong - What Happens Around Dusk Believe it or not, there is a small documentary being filmed about me. I don't know what to think about it - only to assume it is going to be rather boring! I think it is going to be a lot like Grizzly Man, just without the bear.As this gal is going about her process of gathering materials, she asked me for a few of the original shots from Hong Kong so she can show them during the documentary. The Bombing of Dresden This is one of the most famous churches in Dresden that was bombed to bits in WWII. When it was rebuilt just recently, they reused some of the old burned black bricks in the construction.
