Germanialand This is the German area of Epcot at DisneyWorld. I know it’s always a bit disappointing when I say this, isn’t it? I wish it was all real too… but, it is close-enough to real, so that’s not so bad. It’s like getting a pretty good milkshake or an above-average massage. No one complains about these things. And I didn’t complain while here either… the architecture and feel was pretty cool… the food was good… no bitter-looking German tourists… a pretty good combo! :)- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de MontpellierWe passed this amazing cathedral a few times while walking around Montpellier. It looked great from almost any angle, and I really liked the lines and shapes. That was part of the reason I decided to go with this treatment.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the entire post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
A Night at the MuseumThis is one of the final photos I was able to squeeze off before the security guards nabbed me. Arg! I wanted to get so many more… but you know, you know… it’s the same old story.Anyway, if you ever visit Paris, you absolutely need to make it over here to the museum of natural history. It’s known to the locals, but not to visitors. All the other sites in Paris are great, of course… but if you have a penchant for science and a love of crazy interior design, this is the place for you!- Trey RatcliffRead the entire post over at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Waterfall of Certain DoomThis has become one of my favorite remote waterfalls in the world! Whenever I am taking photos of these places, I spend a lot of time there. I often imagine what it would be like to tumble over the edge… wondering various ways I could survive… if I’d get caught in a whirlpool underwater… or if I would just pop up like in the movies. If you are ever near Akureyri, I suggest you visit this spot… if you are feeling bold, clamber down the side of the waterfall like I did here to get this shot…- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the entire post, including an announcement of a new eBook at, at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Where the Princess Dwells at Night…
I called for a little PhotoWalk at Disney! It was really really really fun - and getting this shot was tough! I think +William Beem +Gilmar Smith +Keith Barrett or perhaps +Ali Elhajj got a video of me trying to convince half a dozen Disney workers to "sweep water" in front of my camera, which was splayed on the ground. At first, one guy didn't want to do it because he might get in trouble... then the other acquiesced... and then, before they knew it, they were all being controlled like crystal farmers in Starcraft... we eventually got all the water in the right place!I had to go over and whip out my sweet Android phone to show them some photos from Google+ -- I found the one from Paris with the puddle - I said I needed a puddle about thiiiiis big … and eventually we got it all engineered out. They were all very helpful and nice… I convinced them all to come onto Google+ to see the final result -- so I hope they are here! Hi guys - Y muchas gracias!- Trey RatcliffRead the rest at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Zermatt in the Evening
This is one of my favorite times of night while traveling. It's that blue dusk after a long day. I'm hungry and tired and just trying to capture a little bit more light before finding some food for the night. This is the town of Zermatt, a cozy little mountain village nestled up in the Alps. It's charming and filled with all the sorts of things you would hope would fill a little mountain town.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this entry at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Farm Between Fjords
The fjords of Northern Iceland weave in and out of the ocean, each one ending with a strong peninsula that juts out into the sea. Just on the inland side of these wide peninsulas, there are many lakes and little farms that sit nestled between little mountains and hillocks. They fit in so naturally that you almost don't even notice them. I try to take extra care to notice every one.For this one, I got out of my car and went on a short hike over to this little stream that ran alongside the old home.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
