Driving from Petaluma to Napa I've made this trip a few times, but it is usually in the morning and on the way from Napa to Petaluma. This is usually the situation because I stay at my mom's house before going over to do a show with Leo Laporte. This time, it was the opposite (well, kinda... I didn't sleep with Leo), but I did the show first then drove to Napa to have dinner with my mom.Tom was with me, and we were on a sharp lookout for a good sunset situation. While driving by this old barn, I saw a great opportunity, so we got out of the car to get all the equipment ready...- Trey RatcliffRead the rest of the post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Lighthouse in Iceland
The northwest fjords in Iceland have quickly become one of my favorite areas of the country.

People ask me all the time, "I'm going to XXXX country, where should I go?" That is one of the reasons I created the new Stuck On Earth -- for just that purpose. Now, when you zoom into Iceland, you'll see a big collection of images up in this area. Whenever you see clusters of pins in one area versus another, you'll get the general idea that one area has more photo hotspots than another.

The Yellow-Eyed Penguin These are the rare yellow-eyed penguins of New Zealand. I think they are rare. I don't know. It seems like all animals are rare or endangered, so those words kind of lose their punch after a while, don't they? I mean, if most everything is rare, then it becomes quite common, linguistically speaking. Anyway, they said it was rare, so there you go.And I know why they are rare! They just stand there ... - Trey RatcliffRead the rest of this entry here at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Inside My Secret Cloning Chamber I would love to have a mad scientist lab that is only accessible via a retinal scan and a special dance. Inside I would have all kinds of fabulous things, including a clone chamber where I would clone myself several times so that I could keep track of all my various social networks. The clone would, of course, have the same retina, but it could not gain access into the mad science lab because it would fail the special dance bit.I'd very much like to record a music video in here alongside Flight of the Conchords. As you can see from my intricate tagging system, this was shot in Chicago. Who is the first to know this location? And my Chicago insider is not allowed to say!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Sunflowers at Sunset This photo was much harder to take than it might seem!First of all, these sunflowers are tall - and I mean tall! They must be between 6 and 7 feet in the air. I was on the ground with them, so, of course, I was looking UP at them. No one wants to see a shot like that...!So, I put the camera on the tripod, set the timer to 5 seconds, extended the legs, set the manual settings correct, then jacked the whole thing in the air, holding it rock steady while it took the exposure. Getting a steady horizon while holding the camera 12 feet in the air is not easy... and after a number of takes, my shoulders were just about spent for the rest of the night.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Moonlight over Everest If there is one thing that is almost as cool as being deep in the Himalayas, then it's being at Disneyland after dark near the Expedition Everest ride. This is probably one of my favorite rollercoasters, and I endeavored to stay here late one night to try to grab the moon in the right spot. The whole area is riddled with excellent little Buddhist offering temples, where you can submit fruits of offering in exchange for the blessing of not tossing your lunch right before the Yeti takes a swipe at your runaway train.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
Anyone Want to Join Me at the Beach for a Good Conversation? I’ll take the seat on the left… no… okay, the one on the right. It’s alright… sit in whichever one you like. Where should we put our drinks? Ahhh the grass will be fine… okay, now, what to discuss? So many places to start!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
The Lighthouse This is one desolate place. I was on the coast of Iceland where the sea and the wind were absolutely ripping their way past the lighthouse. I always imagine what it is like to be inside of one of those lighthouses, all night long through the winter. I can’t even envision what that would be like, and after only a short time there in the icy wind, I got the willies and was happy to get out of there.- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
On the Road to Somewhere After an accident on an ATV, I was stuck on this road for a long time while waiting for rescue. Luckily, the camera and tripod were uninjured and the time I was waiting for happened to be sunset. There are worse things in life than this!- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
