I think having children has both confused and confirmed me. I notice with my three kids that there is virtually no difference between what is real and what is not. Without effort (quite naturally), they drift between a fantasy world and the real world. In fact, they probably see the truth of it, in that the real world is a construct that "grown-ups" use as a sensible fiction. Grown-ups occasionally drift into the netherworld, but only in certain socially acceptable situations like movies or books. But then, you look at the artificial construct of the world, and one wonders how can a scene like this even exist unless there is no difference between the worlds. Vik, Iceland
One of the more hilarious places at Burning Man is the uninteresting-sounding "trash fence." It runs around the perimeter of the entire scene and is used to catch trash blowing in the wind. There's almost NO trash there because everyone is quite fastidious (which is entirely unique for festivals), but they put up the trash fence anyway. When you head out to the deep playa, this can easily be several miles from your camp. So it's quite the trek on your bike! I try to go along the perimeter every year to check out what is out there... I was laughing out loud when I saw this one. Burning Man, Nevada
Wow I had a great time at Google when I first visited back in 2010! The guys and gals there I met were very nice and cool... After my Authors@Google talk, I stayed around for a while to take photos while waiting on the workshop to begin. There are sensitive areas of Google, of course, and I didn't even try to take pictures of any of that stuff... Building 43 is the central building of the whole Googleplex. It houses the offices of Marissa Mayer (who did not show up for my talk *ahem*), Larry Page, and Sergey Brin. I wanted to pop into their offices and make unique photos of their offices for fun, but I did not want to ask on my first visit. Wouldn't that be one of the most interesting things in the world? To see the offices of all these people? They don't have to be awesome and all James-Bondy -- even something mundane would be interesting if captured in the right way. But I do picture Sergey stroking a white cat... Mountain View, California
