I think many people in Austin know this place! There is a cliff wall that can be traversed up the side on an easy trail that overlooks the 360 bridge. It's always a beautiful place to come see the sunset over the Colorado. I walked up here one evening when I had the feeling that a good sunset was coming (it's in my bones now). There's also this oddly-shaped tree up there all by its lonesome, and I felt like it should be included too. Austin, Texas
I found this guy in the Batu Caves just outside of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Batu Caves are enormous caverns that hold various Hindu temples and plenty of fruit for monkeys. This was shot after a quarter-mile spelunk through the cave and an emergence into a geological oddity – a shaft of sunlight shining downwards through an open chamber that had been carved through the limestone after centuries of rainfall. The day was bright and sunny, and the monkey sat alone in front of the inky blackness of the cave entrance. This was shot as a single RAW photo. It only had minor HDR adjustments, to get the texture in the wall and the details in his fur. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
After exploring an area (and era!) of ancient temples in Kyoto, I was absolutely starving. I tend to get in a "shooting mode" where I do not undertake basic human necessities like eating, sleeping, and making regular bathroom breaks. In fact, Nikon makes this great set of diapers you should try. They're Japanese so there are little buttons that dispose of everything and leave you fresh as a daisy. Anyway, after shooting, I headed down into the old part of Kyoto to find a traditional Japanese dinner. I sat there for a long time, enjoying myself thoroughly. Kyoto, Japan
