These old trees in the desert make the coolest high-contrast shadows. I took about as many ground-based photos and compositions I could think of before getting up the quad to imagine new versions of the same photos. Deadvlei, Namibia
I often get the comment that my photos must be compositions of multiple shots from different time periods, but that is never the case. This was one of those strange weather situations where there was a broiling cloud over the perfectly sunlight temple. This scene only lasted for a few moments before the downpour. And, lesson learned: You gotta get back to your camp before the rain hits. The mud gets incredibly thick and gums up your bike and boots, making any significant movement almost impossible. I'll just chalk that up to 1,000 lessons learned by being in a shit situation! Burning Man, Nevada
In 2014, I was asked by my friend David to photograph Lindy while we were in Tokyo. I had one day to put my idea for the photo together and was inspired by the first video that David showed me of Lindy dancing under a streetlight in the middle of the night. Because Lindy is a dancer, I wanted the photo to be about stillness and the chaos at the same time. Tokyo, Japan
