This is a five-year-old girl who arrived early at a Chinese opera so she could be dolled up for the event. I was here for about 15 minutes taking photos of her while I had an extremely broken chat with her mom and dad. After a bit of work, I got the mom's WeChat and sent her the photos. WeChat is kind of like the Facebook Messenger of China. Anyway, I often wonder why parents subject their kids to this sort of thing... it's clearly 100% for the amusement of the parents. Well, 99%, as the other 1% was me. Nothing wrong with it, I suppose... 5-year-old kids have very little idea what the hell is going on, anyway. As long as everyone was happy and kind around them all the time, it's all okay. Chengdu, China
On Day 1 at Camp Walter, we all take a break to come together to discuss our plans for the week. During this meeting, a brutal sandstorm blew in while we were handing out assignments. Luckily, I never have to do any real work since I am kinda the camp photographer. This is also lucky, because I tend to be incredibly lazy when it comes to actual hard labor. Burning Man, Nevada
Burning Man has lacked diversity over the years. I found this to be a bit of a shame because I wish more racial groups would get into the mix. Most of the Asian people you see there are like from San Francisco and as Americanized as apple pie. But I did find a group of Japanese people from Tokyo during this particular year. They were awesome and definitely had a different vibration about them. To be fair though, there has definitely been a shift in the attendees in more recent years, long may it continue!
