This was like a little Japanese Anime show made real! I ended up at this cool blacksmith's place in Osaka where this guy was making Japanese knives and swords in the traditional manner. I almost bought one, but I wasn't sure how I could take a sword home on the plane. Maybe I should have just gotten one and had it shipped down. Yes, that makes a lot more sense to me now.
We stopped here for a quick re-fuelling before heading off to look over Milford Sound in the falling light. We were quite lucky the weather was so clear because big rains and storms can roll in here any time but in any case, our pilot wasn't too worried as he told us that his chopper was faster than a storm. Singapore is a fairly miserable city to walk around in during the daytime to take photos, unless you just love getting incredibly sweaty. There's no "quick" photo actually because you end up getting soaked in about 15 minutes. So, as long as I'll be getting sweaty, I choose to stay out for a few hours and just get pretty disgusting all around. Read more:
