Chengdu is known for its hot pot restaurants. It's basically a huge boiling pot where everyone tosses in meats and veggies and stuff. It's sort of a fun communal thing, I guess... but it's also one of those places where they trick the customers into cooking their own food. During dinner, there is this Chinese opera that is being performed. I'm really looking forward to getting back to Oman to explore it some more. I absolutely loved it while I was there. Sometimes, one might expect (if you watch the news that tries to scare you all the time) that countries in the middle east don't have the nicest people. Well, it's just not true. It's amazing what people carry on their heads here! I noticed they start training the girls quite early with lighter loads. They actually put a little ring on their heads (sort of like a bean bag) that sort of flattens out the surface area so they can put anything on top. We went out to watch the sunset and saw these ladies walking miles back to their homes across the sand. It makes you wonder why people in the modern West complain about doing the laundry. Zimbabwe
