This is a rather unique area of Zimbabwe where these huge granite boulders are just kind of sitting on top of a hill. You can see Rene up there sitting on top of one while Neville and Deanie are having a G&T over on the left. We asked our guide if we would get in trouble if we rolled one of these down the hill. He said, yes, of course. But then we said, "How about if we roll two new ones up the hill in exchange?" He didn't know what to say... but he was pretty sure it was wrong. You can either approach this amazing place from the bridge or via the sand down below. I've read a few accounts of people that get stuck in the sand as the sea goes into high tide. It's not exactly quicksand, but it has the same effects. I'm not sure if anyone has actually died from this excursion, but it seems like an excursion I'll skip nonetheless. There is a huge set of stairs in Antananarivo that connect the lower part of the city to the upper part. All along both sides are people selling pretty much anything you can imagine. It's mostly the sort of stuff people in the west would consider antiques. But people here actually still use this stuff. It's both strange and not-strange. The whole thing is a bit of an anachronism because people that are selling this stuff are always behind the tables on their smart phones. Read more: https://www.StuckInCustoms.com
