If you enjoy taking photos of people but are a little afraid of the social awkwardness of the practice, just book a room in Venice during Carnivale! These people LOVE having their photo taken. They basically slowly waltz around Venice all day long and pause here and there so people can take their photos. They don't charge money; they just enjoy being the center of attention. I took this after having quite a bit of wine at dinner. I was in a moody mood and feeling a bit melancholy, so perhaps it comes out just a little bit in this shot. Either way, I love it. Night time in Venice is perhaps one of the most moody places in the world, so I was definitely feelin' it. Venice, Italy
Frequent readers know that one of my strange hobbies is visiting Japanese graveyards. I know it's probably a bit macabre, but these are little parallel universes. They're often embedded in the middle of remote nature and there is just a strange and interesting energy to them. People buy these red torii gates as part of a Shintoist practice.
