I'll save the overnight story for another blog post, but first I can tell you about the mini-struggle to get this photo! So, we found this place online that looked fairly legit. This “company” can get you up on top of the wall for a hike and an overnight camping trip. This guy and his driver picked us up at the hotel and we spent most of the day together. He seemed pretty legit, but less so as the day got closer to night. It was close to sunset, and he really wanted us to come into his farmhouse to take a shower. We said we don't really want to shower, but we want to get a sunset photo from the wall. He was really angling for this shower business, which we thought was strange. Finally, he admitted that we can't go up onto the wall until the guards go home from duty. This was the first indication that we were involved with a shady operation. If you are in Singapore, don't miss a visit to the ArtScience Museum. You can't miss it, as it is around that central lagoon. It's very family-friendly and there are very interesting visual displays inside. I have a bit of an “issue” with some of these Instagram-roadside-bingo collection points. Instagrammers love to go here to fuel their egocentric lives, but I decided to go anyway because it looked pretty awesome! As you can tell, I did not do a selfie here. Maybe it's because I can't find an “Influencer Hat” that fits my cabeza in the right proportions… but I was with my new friend @Dotzsoh and she struck a better silhouette than yours truly. - Trey Ratcliff Click here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
While in Egypt, we were lucky enough to get up close and personal with the mighty Sphinx himself! It was pretty crazy standing there… right in front of one of the most iconic places on Earth. It wasn't quite as big as I expected, but it was still very impressive. I even managed to do a Facebook Live from this location while an Egyptologist showed us around… and even showed us a secret tunnel underneath. Copyright Trey Ratcliff www.StuckInCustoms.com
