Burning Man
Awesome Earth People
AI Mind-Benders
This was the worst year of sandstorms ever at Burning Man. I was in a rather severe one and completely lost, but I kept walking in a random direction, because it was as good as any. Out of the sand came this Japanese tea ceremony. Right after I took this photo, I sat down and was served tea with floating gold leaf. When I was done, he folded up a small piece of origami and gave it to me. Upon it, the message read, "You are a God." Finally! The thing I've always wanted my wife to say was confirmed by this sand-swept Japanese gentleman. Burning Man, Nevada
This location was extremely difficult to find. I had heard rumors of this magical place somewhere in the Valley of Fire, but it required significant hiking and general feelings of incompetence while I was sweating through a liter a minute. Several bottles of water later, I finally found my way inside. Now there is something that may be a bit disappointing about this place. Do not read on if you don't want to be disappointed... It looks quite large and cavernous, if you will, but it is actually quite small and tight. I had to squeeze through a little hole and wriggle my way inside. In fact, my tripod was almost too big to fit inside even on its shortest setting so I had to take it apart a little bit to get a steady shot. Anyway, sorry about the disappointment. I also like the idea of a huge cave hollow-earth hoaxathon that is home to mysterious desert creatures. Valley of Fire, Nevada
During our train ride throughout India, we made about a dozen stops. I spent a good chunk of the time shooting in the train stations. I love taking photos of people in different situations. Bangalore, India
